Greetings;

I have several questions about remote publishing.

1) Will the Mac app MarsEdit still work with EasyBlog 5.x?

2) Has anyone tried the iOS app BlogPress with EasyBlog?

3) If using either of the above apps with EasyBlog 5.x, can the default editor be set to Composer Blocks or does Legacy Editing need to be selected in the Settings?

4) Will email publishing still work properly if the default EasyBlog editor is Composer Blocks?

5) Sorry if this is a stupid question --- can a user log directly into EasyBlog to to create a blog post?

Thanks
Hey Gregg,

Kindly please find my responses to your inquiries below:

1) Will the Mac app MarsEdit still work with EasyBlog 5.x?

Yes.

2) Has anyone tried the iOS app BlogPress with EasyBlog?

I have never tried this to be honest but the new EasyBlog 5 uses Wordpress API. Unless both these apps are built specifically for Wordpress, it should work out of the box. EasyBlog 3.9 uses metaweblog as the primary by default.

3) If using either of the above apps with EasyBlog 5.x, can the default editor be set to Composer Blocks or does Legacy Editing need to be selected in the Settings?

Unfortunately not possible because there is no way to know the "types"

4) Will email publishing still work properly if the default EasyBlog editor is Composer Blocks?

Yes, email publishing would still be using "legacy" mode.

5) Sorry if this is a stupid question --- can a user log directly into EasyBlog to to create a blog post?

Yes of course You just need to allow this in the ACL section for "Registered" group. Remember to only check the option to write new post but not publish post because most of the time, you should moderate the posts created by users on the site unless you trust every single user that registered on your site to not post any spam posts

Hope this helps!

Mark,

Thanks for answering ... I am confused by tour answer to #4

Can the default editor be set to Composer Block but still have the email publishing work?

About number #5 ...

Where does one log into easyblog to write/publish a post without first logging into Joomla?

Two more questions --

a) Will EasyBlog 5.0 work with Rockettheme's Gantry 5 and Joomla 3.4?

b) Can someone use an iPhone to write/publish to EasyBlog 5.x? Any special software required?

Thanks

Hi Gregg,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply due to the different timezone here in our country. Please find my answers to your inquiries below.

Can the default editor be set to Composer Block but still have the email publishing work?

Yes, email publishing will still work correctly but the editor will be change to non-composer block editor (legacy editor) to avoid any possible conflict when user publish the blog remotely.

Where does one log into easyblog to write/publish a post without first logging into Joomla?

If you meant by remote publishing, user will be prompted to login first before they are able to publish the blog post via remote publishing apps such as windows live writer. If you meant by directly login into your easyblog site and publish the blog post, this can be set through ACL settings for "registered" user group and set it accordingly.

a) Will EasyBlog 5.0 work with Rockettheme's Gantry 5 and Joomla 3.4?

EasyBlog works well with joomla 3.4 and I believe easyblog 5 will work well with Gantry 5 now. We have numbers of customer that are using gantry 5 with easyblog 5 without any issue.

b) Can someone use an iPhone to write/publish to EasyBlog 5.x? Any special software required?

EasyBlog 5 is already optimized to work with smartphone. You can use your iphone to directly login to your easyblog site and write a blog post from there. Unfortunately there is no special software that can directly be used to create a blog post remotely from iphone currently.
