Hi there,

We have a problem with publishing articles with EasyBlog. After clicking "Publish post", our site then goes to a 404. Clicking back then goes to the public login page.

EasyBlog seems to save the post as a draft, whether the action was "Post" or "Save as draft". Also, I have found that trying to add a Post Cover sometimes seems to work, but sometimes just "sticks" when trying to upload.

Help! :-)

Cheers
Paul
Hi Paul,

We are able to replicate the issue now. It is happening when the draft's auto save triggers for a second time(http://take.ms/zOTNf).

The reason the error occurs is because your htaccess is causing a redirection from this part(http://take.ms/7KdIw).

Perhaps you can consider setting this backend secure url from the server's side, which you have to consult your webhosting provider for advice, instead of from the htaccess?

I reason I ask is because I noticed several site has this set up but not from their htaccess. And having this in the htaccess may introduce conflicts like the we are experiencing with the draft auto saving process.

Hey Paul,

It seems like I was unable to replicate this issue, you can try watch my video here and see whether i reproduce this issue wrongly?

Hi Arlex,

The video is correct but it seems intermittent. I published three posts yesterday and all suffered from the problem.

Try pasting a large block of text into your post - I'm wondering if that is a contributory factor.

Cheers,
Paul

Hey Paul,

Perhaps you can share with me which existing post having this issue so I can test this differently?

Or it only happen one time then when you save again the blog post, it did work fine?

Hi Arlex,

It's weird. Sometimes it works fine (ie Publish publishes the post) but most times, in my experience, it goes wrong. I tried it tonight with this post. Findings below.

Added headline
Added cover image
Added some text
Added block - Quotes
Pasted in a quote
Clicked Save Draft -> 404

Went back in (browser back button to Joomla admin)
EasyBlog -> Posts -> Draft -> clicked on my post
It only had the first block, so had to re-add the second one
Added block - Quotes
Pasted in a quote
Clicked Save Draft -> 404

Went back in (browser back button to Joomla admin)
EasyBlog -> Posts -> Draft -> clicked on my post
It only had the first block, so had to re-add the second one
Added block - Quotes
Pasted in a quote
Clicked Save Draft -> 404

Went back in (browser back button to Joomla admin)
EasyBlog -> Posts -> Draft -> clicked on my post
It only had the first block, so had to re-add the second one
Pasted in a quote
Clicked Save Draft -> OK

Edited the first block again
Clicked Save Draft -> 404

Went back in (browser back button to Joomla admin)
EasyBlog -> Posts -> Draft -> clicked on my post
Added block - text
Added some text
Clicked Save Draft -> OK
Clicked Publish -> OK

The pattern seems to be based on adding blocks and/or pasting text from the clipboard, although I'm not 100% sure if that's correct as yet.

Cheers,
Paul

Thanks for took your time to find a step to replicate this issue.

I suspect one of the content you copy, it caused this 404 error, it might be your server false alarm detected one of the word as spam content.

But it might be not, actually i need your original blog content, may i know where you copy the content and paste into quote block?

Because now i just copy your existing post quote content from your first post, it seems like i tested every time still save correctly.

HI Arlex,

There's nothing on the server which would pull up a 404 for "triggered" words, and the words for each post would differ anyway.

Try pasting into either a Text or Quote block from any text on a web page (eg news site). Add a few blocks and "Save as draft" after you have pasted the text into the block.

Cheers

THANK YOU SO MUCH! That worked beautifully. I commented out those lines from .htaccess, installed a Joomla-side way of handling what those lines were doing, and EasyBlog now works without the 404 errors.

Thanks again!!

You're most welcome Paul and glad you found an alternative way to get the secure backend url to work.

Feel free to start a new thread if you have any other issues.

Regards.
