Hello
I am trying to publish articles in a second language (English) and that doesn't work. The first language (German) works fine. Could it have anything to do with the fact that when installing the language it says "English (United States)", but when I write an article the selection is "English (United Kingdom)".
I have set up the menu in German and English and linked it to an individual category which works fine for German but not for English.
Your help is much appreciated!
Best regards
Gabriella
Hi Gabriella,

It seems the login credential given for backend as well as FTP do not working http://take.ms/ZWMSEj http://take.ms/Pk2sD

Hi Gabriella,

I've access your site for both language (english and German) and go to one of the category (food) that you've make a menu for that it seems the blog post was respect to the language that I've access http://take.ms/s9gv2

Hello Fadhli
Thanks for your reply. I see you are using Firefox. I checked on my mobile phone where it works as well. But it doesn't work on my laptop where I use Chrome. There it shows the German version where it should be English and when using the language switcger, I get an error page. What could be the reason?
Thanks and best regards

Hi again
Sorry, please disregard my previous message. I think I know now what doesn't work. It's the language switcher. When I am on the German version and want to change into the English one, I get the error message and vice versa. What can I do?
Thanks for your help and best regards

Hey Gabriella,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. I am sorry but not too sure how to reproduce this issue:

1. I tried to access http://smartalternativ.com/index.php/de/info/food/guerilla-gaertner and it shows the german version.

2. Upon clicking on the English language, the page redirects to http://smartalternativ.com/index.php/en/information/food-e/guerrilla-gardening which is also showing the correct page.

This is the video, http://take.ms/Ihgl9 . Let me know if I am testing this wrongly

Hello Mark
Thanks for your reply despite the weekend :-). However, when I do the same I get an error message (see screenshot). Also when doing it on my mobile phone: I go to my site, go to the German version of Info -> Food, and there I click on the language switcher (English) and also get the error message.
What can I do?
Thanks for your help and best regards
Gabriella

Hey Gabriella,

Hm, I am able to reproduce this issue on your site. By the way, are you using Falang for the language switcher or are you using Joomla's built in language switcher ? I tested this locally with the built in language switcher in Joomla and it seems to be working fine

I tried to replicate this on your site but it seems like if I switch off the falang language plugin, then the module doesn't work anymore.

Hi Mark
I have used Falang for some articles but not for Easyblog.

Hey Gabriella,

Do you think we could try turning off Falang temporarily just to ensure that it isn't related to their plugin that is trying to modify the "alias"?

Hello Mark
What does it entail to switch off Falang temporarily? Can it then be switched on again without the risk of losing any content? If yes, then sure, we can do that :-)
Best regards

Hey Gabriella,

Yes, when temporary disable Falang, it will not affect with your existing work.

After checked further, it seems like Joomla single category menu item also can't switch to correct page even menu setting already configured associated with the correct menu item, you can refer on my attached screenshot below and my video here :
http://screen.stackideas.com/Screencast_17-15_16-10-2017.mp4

But when you switch language on the "Easyblog - single blog post menu item", it did work correctly.

By the way, i did tested without Falang, it work perfectly fine, you can check this video : http://screen.stackideas.com/Screencast_17-25_16-10-2017.mp4

Perhaps you can consult with Falang developer regarding this and see how it goes? Because even Joomla single category menu item also couldn't switch to correct associated page.

Hello Arlex
Sorry, but the language switcher works on all other pages (with and without Falang), just not on the pages with Easyblog. So I think it's a problem from your end, not Falang's.
Please advise what can be done about that. Also please advise whether I can cancel the additional menu items you've created.
Thanks and best regards
Gabriella

You're welcome Gabriella.

It seems like you didn't test like what i show you in my video previous reply, I did show you in my video even Joomla single category menu item also didn't switch to the correct respected page, that is why i do not disabled those test menu item yesterday.

So you can prove to Falang developer why Joomla single category menu item (you can refer on my first attached screenshot) can't work as well.

And I also prove you that if you click on Easyblog single post menu item (you can refer on my second attached screenshot), it did work correctly even using Falang extension.

However, you can also prove them why Joomla default language switcher did work fine for Easyblog? This one I already tested into your site, this is the video i recorded at yesterday -> http://screen.stackideas.com/Screencast_17-25_16-10-2017.mp4

By the way, I already disabled those menu item after i recorded that video yesterday.

Hello Arlex
Forgive me if I find your line of reasoning a bit weak, especially considering that on all other pages in my site the language switcher works perfectly, regardless whether they have been created with or without Falang. The only pages the switcher does not work are those created with Easyblog. So it seems logical to me that the problem lies with Easyblog, not with Falang.
Best regards

There is a possibility that Falang has created drivers for Joomla articles and this is probably why it worked with normal articles and not EasyBlog as we do not have support for Falang.

If the language switcher from Joomla works perfectly fine with EasyBlog, I really don't see how this is an issue with EasyBlog.

Hello Mark
So would there be a chance of it working if I deinstalled Falang? I used it for an extension for which it was mandatory but as I no longer use that extension I could also create all content without it and then remove it.
What do you think?
Best regards
Gabriella

Hey Gabriella,

Yep, as Arlex pointed out above, as soon as Falang was disabled, everything works great
