Hello,

We have 2 profile types with the exact same custome fields and settings:

  • Registered Users (EasySocial default profile type.)
  • My Profile (Import of 1,500 Jomsocial profiles.)

Screenshot #1.

Is it possible to combine these into 1 profile type (Registered User)?

1) Under 'Browse Users by profile' --> it lists two types.

Screenshot #2

2) All of our custom fields show up twice under Advanced Search.

Screenshot #3

3) Profile type 'My Profile' (Jomsocial import) doesn't allow us to make a change to our profile. We get the error 'There are some fields that cannot be left empty. Please fill in the highlighted fields to proceed.' in all attempts.

Hello Meagan,

You should use the "Switch profile" button at the back end of EasySocial > Users section. You can switch the users under the migrated profile into the "Registered Users" profile type.

Before doing that, may I suggest that you take a backup for just in case purposes.

Thank you, Mark.

Is there a way to retain the filled out information when I change a user from Jomsocial to 'Registered User?'

I just switched my profile to Registered users, but it didn't save any of the fields except name, email, and gender (even though the profile fields are the same.)

Thank you!

Hey Meagan,

By right, it should bring over all the existing user data into another profile type if all the custom field exactly same.

By the way, It seems like this issue only happen on your site, can you update your Joomla backend and FTP details at http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site so you do not need to provide us every time when you start a new thread on our forums.

Hi Arlex,

Were you able to try to switch a profile type from My Profile to Registered User to see if it keeps profile details?

All profile details were deleted when I switched my personal profile over.

Thank you!

Yes, I can replicate this on your site.

After troubleshoot long hour ago, it seems like your both profile type each custom field unique key not match, that is why all the custom field data not bring over.

You can check my attached screenshot below.

To fix this, you have to copy your 'My Profile' each custom field unique key to 'Registered user' profile type and save it.

After you done this, you can try create a new dummy user account then switch profile and see is it all the custom field data bring over to another profile?
