Hello loic,

We're working on EasyDiscuss 3.2 internally now It will be pretty soon before we release it. Yep, we actually already have an app for EasyDiscuss It's called "Discuss" you can find it in your application listings at the back end

Will EasyDiscuss 3.2 integrate profiles with EasyBlog 3.9 so there is only one?

I don't want to use EasySocial as it is too feature rich for our users., a simple Q&A system with blogging is perfect.

Thanks,
Stu

Hi Alex and Mark

Can you provide a little more information on how to do this please, this there a link I can follow?

At the moment when I click on profile in both systems they are sharing the avatar and blog posts show in EasyDiscuss but they are two entirely separate profile pages.

I want the result to be, when you click on Profile in either component, the user goes to the same page and all data is shared i.e. bios, avatar etc.

Thanks.
Stu

hey stu,
to use the easyblog profile on easydiscuss head over to your easydiscuss backend.
there go to settings-> layout -> avatars
on the right side you see a box "integrations". set the option profile linking to YES and then for the option below that (profile pictures integrations) choose easyblog from the dropdown.
after saving easydiscuss will use the avatars from easyblog and all profile links will go to the easyblog profile.
hope that helps

Hi Alex

Thanks for taking the time to respond but it doesn't really integrate the two profiles.

I can see that the links now go through to the Blog profile but I can still access the EasyDiscuss profile page directly. When in the Blog profile page I can't see some details for EasyDiscuss and vice-versa. Also some fields aren't shared so I have a bio in Discuss but in Blog is says Bio not set.

This is why it would be good to have the option to share one profile if both components are installed.

With the focus on Social then I am not sure how a priority it is but it would be really useful and I don't think I am alone in thinking this.

hey stu,
the main idea of the profile integration is actually to only use one profile system at all. with only easyblog and easydiscuss you can't mix both together, but you can control which one to use so that users don't have to deal with 2 completely different profiles.
actually that's where then easysocial comes into place as with easysocial as profile system this would allow you to select which area's / fields you wanna have exactly, but as explained earlier without easysocial it's not possible.

Am having the same problem here! I have purchased both easyblog and easydiscuss as a package awhile back ago (love them) to start a blogging and discussion service project, but a little bit hesitant due to the lack of ONE, ONLY ONE profile needed for integration between Easyblog and Easydiscuss. This very integration issue has held me back for quite awhile now or even my renewal of the package! I do not want my guests to have two separate profiles! They should use one registration form creating an account and one profile for both Easyblog and Easydiscuss.

Since Stackideas has the best blogging component in the whole of Joomla, I have just decided to revive this project and go on through with it! but not happy with the two separate profiles! Just one! I hope you guys will solve this very much needed solution to a pain in the behind for all of us that have both components installed on the same site. Can you guys do something about this ?
