Team,

We have received report that whenever we add custom fields to the "Registered Users" workflow, though these fields are not mandatory, all our users site wide are redirected to "edit profile" section.

Please note, users are not compelled to add any additional information, but, they must click the "Update" button to be able to continue.

Considering these are not mandatory fields, this should not be happening. (We added the Easy blog biography and blog description fields). Can you kindly look into this please.

You will observe that this has also affected your stackideas profile on our site when you login.

Thank you.
Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a public holidays for us here.

If admin added a new custom field from the user workflow, the system will always check user profile completion for the existing registered user even that is not required field.

It is correct behavior as I noticed that you had enabled 'Profile Completion Checks' setting.

As long as when you add a custom field into user workflow, users will always be redirected to the edit page because the system needs to re-calculate the current logged in user whether got complete those new custom field or not.

How this 'Profile Completion Checks' work is, when the user register on your site, the system behind will do some calculation for how many custom field you added, if you didn't enable this setting 'Check Optional Field', it will mark all these fields as completed and stored into database even though user doesn't fill in those non-required fields.

After that, when admin added some new custom field into the user workflow, it doesn't recalculate for each of the existing users, that is why when the existing user login on the site, the system will redirect them to edit profile page.

For example :
If admin added a new term and condition field, by right system will redirect those existing user whoever haven't agree that term and condition.

Hello Irwin,

Thanks for getting back. The fields we added are optional, and we have not enabled the Check Optional Field option.

As you outlined, the default action would be for the system not to redirect users were optional fields are added but it is doing so.
