Hi -

I have 2 potentially related problems with my EasyBlog RSS feed:

1) I've just discovered that if you click on the RSS Feed link on EasyBlog pages within my site that it loads the page in code view rather than as a web page. I happen to be in the process of testing EasyBlog 5.0.41 on a test site [while running EasyBlog 3.9.1 on my live site], so I see that this is happening in multiple versions of the program. This does NOT happen with the K2 RSS Feed link on my site.

2) On my test site, I am working on making the move from JomSocial to EasySocial. There, I have created 2 feeds in one of my new 'pages': 1 for a K2 feed from my site & 1 for an EasyBlog feed from my site. The page reflects that both feeds have been created, but says that there are no items to display (which is incorrect). Is there something I need to do to get EasySocial to crawl the site for the feeds? Do I need to set up a chron job for that?

I am including links below where you can view each of the 2 problems. Please note that since this is a test site, if any tweaks are required I will need to know what they are so I can replicate them on my live site as well.

Thanks!
Cheryl

It seems like K2 RSS feed have their own custom RSS feed layout view. But currently we do not have render Easyblog RSS feed view as webpage.

But If you view that RSS feed from Chrome browser, it will not render the readable layout, unless you view on Firefox browser, it will render the correct readable RSS feed view is because Chrome browser do not have render RSS feed view by default.

For Easyblog RSS Feed URL, you should use this e.g. https://www.testing.yourdomain.com/tags/tags/365-days?format=feed&type=rss

But after I investigated, It seems like that is bug on our end when you using SSL (https) site, this is the error blocked crawl the content from your RSS feed URL page.

SSL certificate : unable to get local issuer certificate

I will create a ticket in our issue tracker and will include this fix in next release version.

Thanks for your response, Arlex. Just to be sure I understand, does that mean that the RSS feed icons only work on Chrome browsers? Given browser usage, I would consider that to be a very much incomplete feature and will remove it from my site.

Please confirm that I am understanding this correctly.

Thanks,
Cheryl

Hey Cheryl,

You're welcome.

Regarding the RSS feed, it seems like Chrome browser do not have build-in RSS feed application to generate those RSS feed data to readable page, but it will work fine in Firefox browser.

However, the main purpose of this RSS feed URL is for import those feed into their website.
