 Extensions installation enhanced by Akeeba Backup • Back to standard installer
What's this?
COM_AKEEBA_DEPRECATED_FEATURE
Akeeba Backup has overridden Joomla!'s extensions installer with its own version. Akeeba Backup's version allows you to take automatic System Restore Points when upgrading/updating extensions which can be used to roll back the extension to its previous version should the upgrade break it. You can temporarily switch off this feature by clicking on the "Back to standard installer" link. If you need to permanently turn off this feature, please disable the "System - System Restore Points" plugin.

Hi Arlex, Hi Eileen

Yes thanks to both of you.

@ Eileen yes Akeeba is a good tip.
When I go to the Akeeba page I see:

Akeeba Backup: Post-installation configuration
Akeeba thinks that it needs to be installed freshly which is weird.
It was already installed but what the hell I go through the hoops to install it again and make another back up just for the hell of it.
Which I guess is confirmation that Akeeba is part of the problem and maybe even part of the solution

I now have a back up of my current partially damaged site

OK so I tried to install a file in the wrong place but even the second line of the Akeeba message is suspicious as it is talking about finalbug.tv and I was installing on finabug.net
finalbug.tv (separate Joomla installation.) is a subdomain of finable.net

I will contact both my hoster (Siteground) this morning.

And ask them for tips.

And probably contact the Akeeba people this afternoon.
(They always seem to answered in the early afternoon for some reason:o )

I have at least 2 current back and am confident that I can find a way to avoid a complete resore.
I once edited a Zoombie muisic video with out being able to see my NLE interface. I kid you not
I will report back as I make progress...

again thanks to both of you

Paul

Hey Paul,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as we are currently having a Joomla conference here in Malaysia and most of the team are involved in the preparation.

I've checked in your site, but i am not sure why only this page URL hitting blank page.
->http://finalbug.net/administrator/index.php
Perhaps you can consult with your webhosting provider regarding this?
If you access another page example : http://finalbug.net/administrator/index.php?option=com_installer it will work fine.

By the way, the group blog app need to install from Easysocial application page
-> http://finalbug.net/administrator/index.php?option=com_easysocial&view=apps&layout=install

Hope this will help.

Hi Paul,

Just saw this post and I see Arlex has the answer (install from EasySocial App page). But FYI, I also see you're using Akeeba and you might also have had a question about the phrase "Extensions installation enhanced by Akeeba Backup". I recognize this may be a message from the Akeeba "Restore Points" feature which you can read more about to learn how to temporarily or permanently turn it on/off, as you may wish/need.
