hi,

after i upgraded to easyblog 5 some things :

Import does not work good, via RSS :it did imported 6 news instead of 20.

Except that, the news are all with :INVALID REQUEST text on it,so the text was not imported.

when i try to go into them in front -end ,again error:

warning:require_once com_easyblog/includes/gettable/gettable.php failed to open stream:no such file or directory in /includes/easyblog.php line 497 fatal error

In komento .if you go to : administrator/index.php?option=com_komento&view=system&layout=profile ,the text,is :Joomla! 3.4. appear over the fields over there.

Except that,the emoticons,does not load good,into the komento2.

If your not using anymore the crm ,witch was very good,as i don`t like to make debugging problems public, there is some kind of email support@stackideas.com to receive support via email or something?

Forums are good for other things from my point of view, some people might want their privacy, and the privacy can`t be into an public place like into an forum or make this private.
Hey Electro,

We are actually moving away from Kayako and we are considering switching to another platform to handle "emails". At the mean time, you can still write to us at https://crm.stackideas.com/index.php but I reckon that you should use the forums

Anyway, regarding the issues that you are facing, can you please provide us with the back end and FTP access to check on this?

i will use the forum in the meantime.

I will lunch some stuff earlier december this year exactly for this problem, that will solve your kayako problems, mail me privately so we can speak about an partnership, drop me an email, you know it.

You can even uninstall, and install again easyblog 5,into my website, just to work,i don`t have anything important, but just to put it back in UBLOG menu.

It`s important also ,that admins to be able to disable CSS and html, because of security issues.

The composer built in ,is nice, but you missed for example on photos, there is no ability to add REMOTE photo, for example an photo stored in dropbox or gdrive or any other cloud solution, from my point of view, photos, videos should be into the cloud,to not waste server space, witch cost alot more then cloud.

Does the easyblog composer haves disabled by default html and css code?Right now, basically i can put JCE EDITOR,to post pictures remotely, but i think you can work it out the easyblog composer to be secure, fast, reliable and easy to use for the average internet user.

Hi Electro,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as we have missed out your post earlier.

Can you make the provided user credentials as super user so we can check on your easyblog component entirely? Here is the easyblog backend screenshot from my point of view, http://screencast.com/t/yza7TgeGw0oP .

Hi Electro,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply.

I've checked your site and it seems like you have enable the options "Get full text from feed" and this is causing the invalid request issue, http://screencast.com/t/dhMQN0tsbdZ . As a temporary fix I've disabled that option so that the feed will work properly now. May I know if your php server has the requirement mentioned inside the screenshot above?

and in easydiscuss, from where i can setup, exactly like in stackideas, that guest to see only first post ?!

I didn`t find were the option is.

In komento, jfb connect should also be integer,so people can simple login socially, and post the comments.

Hey electro,

Firstly, please stick to only 1 question per thread. If you have other issues with EasyDiscuss / Komento please start a new thread instead. As for your issues in EasyBlog,

not that is the problem, please read on front end any news, you will get this error :
warning:require_once com_easyblog/includes/gettable/gettable.php failed to open stream:no such file or directory in /includes/easyblog.php line 497 fatal error

As for the issues above, you are getting this error either because:

1. Your JFBconnect plugin is outdated
2. The JFBConnect opengraph plugin for EasyBlog is not updated yet. You need to check with Alex from Sourcecoast.

To fix this, go to your plugin manager and disable the EasyBlog Opengraph plugin by JFBConnect

Hi again,

After upgrade to last version via api key ,5.26 , i get this error in easyblog 5 when i try to delete post :

Fatal error: Class 'FinderIndexerHelper' not found in public_html/administrator/components/com_finder/helpers/indexer/adapter.php on line 145

I activate maximum errors and this is what it`s display.

Except that i have a few question about Easyblog as k2 totally dissapointed me,and that component is an total mess, creating alot of troubles into my website and is outdaded,no release from 1 year ago,so i`m getting ready for an total migration away from K2 and i need some answers:

1)With easyblog 5 i can easily migrate the categories from k2 ?

2)With easyblog 5 i can easily migrate the items from k2 ?And if there is some kind of batch process,to process 50 or 100 items on an time?As i have about 200.000 items there, and is not like migrating 10-50-100 articles,i ask this because without some option to process 50 items then another 50 items then another 50 items,or 100 at one time, and so on,to migrate 200k items from one shout it will crash and nothing will be migrated.

3)Is easyblog 5 able to handle 200k,500k or Millions of news ??? I also ask this, because k2 with 200k items crashes alot and makes alot of problem, and the database is only :1.6 GB so about 2 gb.

This the error i get alot with using k2,and the comment made by my sistem admin :

"For the most revent issue, 'Application Instantiation Error: Could not connect to MySQL', - this essentially means that your MySQL Service crashed or your website was unable to connect to MYSQL due to configuration issues. In this case - it looks like one of your tables crashed; "

Look : 150921 23:50:53 [ERROR] /usr/sbin/mysqld: Table './joomla3_k2_items' is marked as crashed and should be repaired.

Did easyblog 5 was tested with millions of items into it,and what are the results ?!

Because is one thing to deal with 100,100,10.000 items, and something else to deal with 200k ,1m,3m items.

Thank you.

p.s:your last solution worked, and it did fixed the problem!

Hi Electro,

Fatal error: Class 'FinderIndexerHelper' not found in public_html/administrator/components/com_finder/helpers/indexer/adapter.php on line 145

The reason why you are hitting this error is because you have disabled smart search components from your joomla site while easyblog search plugin is relying on smart search component. I've disabled the following plugins on your site, Smart Search - EasyBlog Posts and it should be working fine now.

Regarding on your other inquiries, to be honest we never tested our easyblog components with million of items inside but we have optimized the way the data is stored and how easyblog is fetching the data from database and most of the results fetched from the database are paginated. Hence I believe there should be no issue with performance even if you have million of items in your easyblog.

With easyblog 5 i can easily migrate the categories from k2 ?

Basically you need to have large value of memory_limit and max_execution_time in your php.ini and I believe there should be no issue during the migration as long your webserver can handle the migration process. If there are some issue for whatever reason, you can always write to us and we will assist you accordingly.

Hi Ezrul,

I`m not using smart search basically because the smart search from joomla is not so smart search and it creates alot of problems into the database if your running an big website with more then 100k items,or even with 1 milion + items, for this kind of data basically i`m left with only one option that is good and that is google search, and i implemented into the website.

I think except smart search, you should have the implementation for google search for more bigger portals or blogs at least. In order to search into easyblog with google search, and that can be done in easyblog-INTEGRATION - GOOGLE SEARCH for easyblog.

I appreciate your sincerity.

Tell me,the numbers of hits practically equals numbers of pageviews of that article right ?And that hits number only counts real people and the data is accurate right?I mean it does exclude bots, crawlers from inflating HITS number right ?

Tell me what values do you suggest for this : memory_limit and max_execution_time ?!

I appreciated you did that thing with pagination, however i did noticed that the database type in there is MYISAM,this is the main reason why k2 with 200k+ items is crashing, making my website unavailable and this is the answer from the sysadmin : " As for the MYSQL Table Crashes, your table is a MyISAM Table, which is prone to crashing if the table is Large or if the Table receives a lot of Traffic. "

I don`t know how much traffic that tables does get exactly, but that table size is about only 2GB ,witch i don`t think is that much, but is crashing constantly with 200k items within it.

As solution he wroted this : " Alternatively you could convert the table to InnoDB, which is much more stable, but a little bit slower, than MyISAM Tables"

Based on this experience,i wanted to ask you guys,if in the scenario that i have let`s say 1M+ items, and is crashing, the transition on easyblog 5 from myisam to InnoDb can be done easily ?

On k2,from 2.6.8 they have innodb, but the main problem is that they integrated this for the new installation only, and if you upgrade, the tables are not converted to InnoDb,and from all this, all the troubles.

I need all this answer, because this migration and moving from one side to another,it does affects search results and everything, and once done,it`s good to keep it on that system basically.

Hey Electro,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. EasyBlog was never built to be an analytical tool. The hits logging is utilizing the same behavior as Joomla articles where it is tracking any visitors that opens up the blog post (Regardless if they are bots or not).

Ideally your memory limit should be between 128mb - 256mb. As for the max_execution_time, it really varies depending on the speed of your server. For instance, if your server has extremely slow connectivity, importing feeds would take longer time since it is slow for your server to connect to these external feeds.

hi,

I know i know it was not built to be an analytics tool, but hits or pageviews matter for any blogger.

From what i know, joomla articles is only tracking real humans not bots,on k2 component i can confirm that is tracking only real humans, what will be the case in easyblog ? Because if you use same system,i think it won`t track bots.

The problem and i don`t know if it`s solved, into joomla 3.4.4 is that when cache is enable, you have to apply some kind of hack,in order to count accurate, but this was one year ago : http://www.inmotionhosting.com/support/edu/joomla-3/increase-hits-cache ,i don`t know if joomla fixed this problem or not in the meantime, without the need of doing hacks.

I was not asking about settings of importing feeds,i was asking about settings if i decide to import over 200k items+ from component k2.

The server is dedicated,4gb ram,250mbps uplink,Intel Xeon Quad Core 2.5GHz (8 threads)!

Hey Electro,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply as I might have missed your post earlier. The way EasyBlog track hits is exactly the same as Joomla article does.

Hey friends,

If it`s same it`s okay, joomla does not track crawlers robots only human hits, but this term is used wrongly because it should be Pageviews,as hits in server terms means other things.

I wanted to ask some things in easyblog5 :

1)the bloggers in front-end if one category does not exist and they want to post to an new category, they can create this category dynamically or this must be setup through acl?or they can only be post in categories witch i create from backend ?

2)i wanted to ask you guys if your aware of php 7 that should be lunched earlier in november or end of this month and of the joomla 3.5 compatible with php 7 on 1st december ,if stackideas products will be fully compatible with php 7?And if you tested them ? As php 7 is twice as fast as php5.6 and is an major improvement .

3)Except that,i wanted to ask,if i will use mariadb 10.1 instead of mysql,is there any problems running things smoothly ?As google, wikipedia already did go to mariadb, because mysql was bought by Oracle and they are now using mariadb.
I saw people writing in the joomla forum that they installed joomla in mariadb with no problem, but i have to ask you if you tested the products in this kind of database ? Mariadb is forked from mysql, from what i read it is made by the guy who lunched mysql before being bought by SUN then by Oracle.

Hi there,

1)the bloggers in front-end if one category does not exist and they want to post to an new category, they can create this category dynamically or this must be setup through acl?or they can only be post in categories witch i create from backend ?

Yes bloggers can create a new category in front-end by going to front-end dashboard > categories and click on "new category" as you can see from screenshot here, http://screencast.com/t/bMjPKw7tn .

2) if stackideas products will be fully compatible with php 7?And if you tested them ? As php 7 is twice as fast as php5.6 and is an major improvement

We haven't tested our products with php 7 yet but I believe it will be compatible with joomla and our products. However we will constantly update our components along with the newer version of php and joomla so that we can harvest the benefit of it.

if i will use mariadb 10.1 instead of mysql,is there any problems running things smoothly ?

To be honest, we haven't tested our products with mariaDB yet but some of our customer are actually using this database in their joomla and our components. You can try to check out the following thread here where they are discussing about the server configuration and database used, http://stackideas.com/forums/setting-up-a-server-for-joomla-stackideas-products

Hi,

1)Okay,i see,is very good,in case i want to disable for authors to do that category, and only post to the category that i make from backend, how do i restrict that ?!

2)joomla 3.5 will release in 1st december mostly with php 7,hopefully your products will get an update to support this new version witch improves twice the speed of php 5.6 and in terms of performance is in some cases better then facebook hiphopphp ,is an great update,i am sure stackideas will be following this new improvements.

About mariadb,i deployed, seems no problem to run your stackideas products into it,seems more fast than mysql and more good.
mysql 5.6 causes high loaded of over 100% ,and i could not correct an problem with some k2 unoptimized queries,so i was forced to go MariaDb.
It was good, because i could solve out the problem, and things are running smoth right now,no wonder google and wikipedia did go on mariadb too.

3)In twitter shortlink auto posting,i saw you use google shorten link service,i wanted to ask if possible on an feature release to integer bit.ly as it does provide more stats then google? And sh404sef,does have shurls,i think this 2 alternatives will be nice for short link on twitter,as google shorten link services, does not provide for example the data stats that you might need.

Hi Electro,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply. Please find my answers from your inquiries below.

#1 ) You can choose specific ACL group to not be able to create a category on your site by going to your backend > easyblog > ACL > select your usergroup > managing, http://screencast.com/t/gDf4MfRZ

#2) I have consult this to with our developers and they believe everything will still work and compatible with php 7. However if there are any hitch that might occur with the new version of joomla and php, they will constantly fix and update it accordingly for all of our stackideas products.

#3) Thanks for the idea. Perhaps you can try to post it in the voice section so that our developers can see the request directly from there, http://stackideas.com/voices/easyblog .
