Hello at Stack Ideas,

We have started to use the video platform in EasySocial and I am very pleased to see that it is possible to upload video from the front-end.

I tried it out yesterday and all seems to run OK but the video never finalized the coding, please see the attached screenshot.

I hope you can help us out so our members can start to upload video.

Thank you and best regards,
Finn
1. Video upload requires FFMpeg. Does your hosting provider supports ffmpeg?

2. It looks like you have left the default value to /opt/local/bin/ffmpeg, http://screencast.com/t/DJoV0jagP4 . Is this correct?

3. The log files are showing that your video encoding failed because of invalid path to ffmpeg,

sh: /opt/local/bin/ffmpeg: No such file or directory

Hello Finn,

Thank you for contacting our Help Desk.

For your convenience I have installed FFMPEG on your Cloud instance and you should be able to use it right away.

The path to the binary is:

/usr/bin/ffmpeg

Should any further questions arise, do not hesitate to contact us back at any time.

Best Regards,

I've checked in your site, it seems like your FFmpeg still using very old version 0.7.5, you can take a look of this log file -> https://replaceYourSiteDomain.com/media/com_easysocial/videos/14/aab3238922bcc25a6f606eb525ffdc56.log

By the way, you have to request with your webhosting provider to help you update to at least 2.8.x version.

Hi Arlex,

Thank you for your reply.

I copied your information to SiteGround and their reply did not make my day;

Finn,

I checked the case however we can not upgrade FFmpeg to version 2.8 for your Cloud Server as it is not available. If you would like you could upgrade to a Dedicated server with root access where you will be able to manage and install any third party applications that you need or have your developer install them for you. You can check the dedicated servers provided by SiteGround from:

Arlex, is there a way around this so we at least on our own can upload video? Than our members must wait to we upgrade to a dedicated server or find another solution.

Best regards,
Finn

Hm, unfortunately that was not possible to upload video without FFmpeg installed, because this is necessary to installed it from your server in order to make the upload video work.

When the user upload the video on your site, the FFmpeg will encoding the video to correct format so that all the browser/mobile app can playable that video.
