Dear Sirs,

We're having a problem adding a PDF file to one of our groups - upon upload, we see "HTTP Error" with no other information provided. The Maximum Filesize is 64mb, and the Joomla Media upload limit is 10mb, wheras the file is just about 4mb. Here is a link to the file for reference:

http://globalhumanrightsdirect.com/images/zoo/uploads/PocketGuide.pdf

We were able to upload some other files, just not this one. We are able to upload it via FTP but there does not seem to be a way to have it appear under the group's File list.

Please advise.

Best,
Jakub
Hey Jakub,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. I have checked your site and it seems like the problem is actually because the request is being rejected by the web server. Take a look at the error message being thrown by the web server here, http://take.ms/uLBUb

You need to check with your hosting provider as to why the request is being rejected. This is a very common trade when your hosting company deploys mod_security or any security addon for apache as it thinks that you are trying to send large (unwanted data) to the server.

Thanks for the response! I followed up with our web host as well and awaiting the reply - just trying to track it down between the server and EasySocial/Joomla settings.

The odd thing is that we can upload other files just fine, even other PDFs and files of bigger size. So it's utterly confusing what might be causing this.

Best,
Jakub

Abdul,

As your team suggested, it turns out it was indeed mod_security. We do not wish to disable it right now, so looking for a workaround.

Since we can upload via FTP, I thought about adding an HTML file to the group that just has the link or auto-redirects to the PDF. But it looks like the Group File Upload does not allow html files. Is there a way to change what file types it accepts? I couldn't find it in the settings.

Best,
Jakub

Hmm, I went into Applications -> Files and added html to allowed extensions, but it still gives me an "Extension Error" when I try to upload it.

It seems that you have included those extension into Page' files applications. I have included them on Groups' files applications. It should works fine now. Please give it a try and see how it goes.

Excellent, that worked like a charm! The website tries to download the HTML file - is there a way to have it automatically open in the browser instead?

Thank you for being so prompt and helpful in this matter!

Hi there,

Unfortunately, it is not possible to achieve this currently as that it current behavior for files items, as it will always download instead of previewing it on the browser.

But, if you require us to perform the customization for you, you can always request for a quote from us at https://crm.stackideas.com and select "Customizations" . Our sales person would be glad to send you a quote for the customizations that you have requested.

Thanks for your understanding.

No problem, I assumed as much. It's already a versatile framework that does a lot!

I'll let you know if we decide to move forward with customization!
