Is there is a way for a user to make his profile private. Ie that it will not show in “people” or in a search?
Hey Itamar,

This can be configured in the privacy settings of the user's account, http://take.ms/FL7zN

Thanks,
Is there any way to have this field show up in the registration process?

Hey Itamar,

I am sorry but unfortunately it is not possible to render such settings during registration.

Hey
I have changed one of our user setting as you show me to "me only" in all the items under the section Profile.
How ever when I go to the people Tab, I still see his name there.
How do I turn off that he will not show up under the directory of people?

I also found under setting-> user-> privacy. see attached screenshot. Does this allow users to control a custom field in registration that will allow them to turn off privacy settings?

Another thing, I've create a profile type that doesn't have community access but allow it to switch profile type (see screenshot).
How ever in the frontend, I can't find the option to change the user type and "upgrade" it to community access.

Another question about this profile type: now this profile type doesn't have access to community, but he see all the menu of the community like any other users. Any click on it brings him to 500 error message. Is there a way to disable this menu items for this profile type?

Even if the user's privacy is set to "Only Me", they will appear on the user's listing, just that their profile cannot be viewed. Unfortunately there is no work around for this.

Thanks!
I've asked two other questions. I'm copying them again here:

To change profile type, this can be done by editing the profile.

Since you can associate Joomla user groups with the profile type, you can configure your menus in Joomla to only appear to selected user groups.

Hey Mark,
when you write
"To change profile type, this can be done by editing the profile."
Do you mean that the user can change his profile him self?
I checked and didn't see this option anywhere...

Yes, if you are logged in as a normal user and the user's profile type allows profile type switching, you will see the switch profile button when you are editing your profile, http://take.ms/qMQmY

Ah, it looks like you are in a profile type that doesn't have community access and this is why the switch profile doesn't show up. This button would show up when the profile you are on has community access.

Oh, haha.
But the whole idea is to switch to a profile that does have a community support...
Is there a way to add this manually or have a work around it?

Hey Itamar,

Ah, unfortunately that isn't possible unless you hack the core codes
