Hi,

Refer attachment. We'd like to accomplish a similar group hierarchy [perhaps using invite only groups]. A few questions though:

1) We'd like to setup Chapter 1, Chapter 2....Chapter X as private groups [I think as "invite only"] that are moderated by respective group admin [Publisher in Joomla ACL]. Only group admin [Publisher] is allowed to post to the group [in respective activity stream]. Group members have "read only" access and are not allowed to either post or comment in the group [no file upload, pictures etc. by group members]. How can we accomplish this?

2) Group members cannot private message each other. They can only send PM to group admin. Is it possible?

3) Group members cannot access each other's profile page. Only group admin has access to member profile pages. Each member has access only to their own profile. How can this be accomplished?

4) We'd like to assign access to group categories such that those admins with location, city, state or country level access can post [view, edit, moderate, create new entries] in groups that fall within their hierarchy. E.g. Location 1 admin has access to Chapter 1 & Chapter 2 but not Chapter 3 ...Similarly, City 1 admin has access to all Chapter 1, 2, 3 but not Chapter 4, 5. So on and so forth. Can this be set in profile types? If not, how do we accomplish this? So someone with country level access will be able to view all the groups within their hierarchy.

Appreciate help.

Cheers!
Hi Juz,

I am sorry but we do not provide that feature with the current system unfortunately.

Best regards

Hi Chris,

So what you're saying is there's no feature of nested group categories. Correct? Can the groups themselves be nested instead into multiple levels? I understand that one can create several groups within each group category. My need is nesting group categories and assigning different access control.

Also, prior to purchase last week it was confirmed by Ahmad Justin from your team that it is possible to create private groups where only group owner/ admin is allowed to post to the activity stream in the group. And group members can only view. I quote reply below. How can this be accomplished?

"> 2) Groups: Is it possible to customize groups such that all groups created are private and within such private groups, only the group admin can post comments, photos, videos, events, notifications, reminders, announcements, files etc. on the activity stream. Members can only view activity stream. But are not allowed to share/ post anything on the group activity stream.
- Yes, you can set groups so that only admins have the rights to post anything while normal group members can only view the shared items by the admin."

Appreciate clarification.

Cheers!

Hello Juz,

I am sorry for the confusion here. Allow me to further explain more on your inquiry.

It's possible to make only group admin can post while group members are not allowed to post anything and they can only view what admin post into the group. Here's how:
1) Go to your backend > easysocial > groups > categories > [choose your category] > Custom Fields
2) Add "Stream permissions" custom field from the menu as you can see from the screenshot here, http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-05-28_1226.png , http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-05-28_1227.png
3) Save it and then go to your easysocial frontend area > groups > create group.
4) During the creation, check "Allow admins to post into this group" in the checkbox and leave others empty. http://screen.stackideas.com/2015-05-28_1229.png
5) Save and complete.

For the rest however it is not possible with the current system.
