I want to use easydiscuss as customer service center.

The user is able to create a new request for different services.
Each service has its category.
Each service has its iwn request form <Ask a question>.

I need that Category field will be preset by the menuitem.

how can I do it?

Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a public holiday for us here.

I think the only way achieve this without modify the core file, you can try my following instruction and see how it goes.

1. Try access your single category page then copy that new post button permalink.
2. Create system link (URL) menu type from your site backend
3. Then put that new post button permalink under this menu type URL field

You can refer on my attached screenshot below.

Hope this will help.

Hi Arlex,
Thank you for the detailed reply.

Could you provide the "Ask a question" option with a specific category?

We work with people after 45 and it's quite complicated for them to search the right option.

Thank you,
Udi

Hi there,

Could you provide the "Ask a question" option with a specific category?

Based on this, you can check them yourself accordingly by going to you categories sections as you can see here http://take.ms/qMrLZ

Please advice.

Hi Abdul,

The approach you propose is not sufficient for a social network.

The problem is we think like programmers
while our clients have no time to search.

If there is a form regarding a specific topic, they will expect the relevant fields and everything around it.
It is not like your helpdesk where I have to find the right categories.
In our case, they will leave without any note ...

Currently, I use forms and another ext while I cannot use easydiscuss I have purchased.

Any goodwill to learn how mid-age people like to work?

Thank you
Udi

Based on what i checked on your current menu structure, it seems like you did created the current menu item, you can check my attached screenshot below.

Imagine when the user want to ask something regarding this category, when the user click on this menu item, they can able to see that "New post" button.

So when the user click on this New post button, that creation page category option already automatically selected the respected category what they want to post in.

I believe this way mid-age people can able to manage ask new question under this category.

Hi Arlex,
Sorry for the delay ... busy days.

Users want 2 clicks ONLY.

I have to provide the user nothing-to-think-of ...

So if it's not a big deal, could you please add predefined Category
to the "Ask a Question" option?

You can be sure all vendors using easydiscuss for their helpdesk will love it.

Please advise.

thank you
Udi

Try download my attached file and replace into this JoomlaFolder/components/com_easydiscuss/views/ask/tmpl/default.xml so you have to create a new menu item for Easydiscuss - Ask a Question Layout then select what category you would like to choose.

Hi Arlex,

I appreciate a lot of your efforts.

It is a great example of superb support.

It works fine.

And if you wish to make it better - please add -
Type Of Question - the same way.

Have a fun weekend.
