Hi,

I am looking to move to EasySocial for one of my websites as particularly interested in the Groups/Tasklist and File sharing structure which better meet this particular website's needs - as its less of a social site and more about collaboration.

I have a couple of questions.

1.
I need to be able to create Groups that are not only private, but invisible to other users - unless they belong in that group (in Jomsocial this was only possible with a hack - but it did the trick).

The reason for needing to hide from view is that members can have up to 30 private groups (projects on the go) so if lots of members had similar numbers it becomes too unwieldy to view/manage. Ideally there should be 3 options: Public, Private, and finally Private/Invisible so people join by invitation only and the group is only visible to them. The latter is only possible withJomsocial only with a simple hack, and they are not looking to add the invisible feature to Private Groups in the future.

2. Is it possible to create a standard template task list that members can add automatically? My members have a set of procedures they need to collaboratively work through for every project. Rather than create the same things from scratch, is there any way of adding a template of milestones and task lists automatically from one that already exists?

3. Within the Groups, are all associated events, blogs, documents private to its members only?

I look forward to hearing from you

Mel
Hello Mel,

Thanks for your interest in EasySocial and I do apologize for the delay of my reply as the internet in the office decided to give up on us today We had to scramble around to find a place with decent internet. Anyway please do find the response to your inquiries below:

>> 1. I need to be able to create Groups that are not only private,

There are 3 types of group in EasySocial. They are categorized as below:

Public Group - Anyone can see, anyone can join
Private Group - Anyone can see limited info about the group and can request to join
Invite Only Group - Only group members / admins can view the group.

I am really sorry but unfortunately this is not possible currently

>> 3. Within the Groups, are all associated events, blogs, documents private to its members only?
If it is an invite only or private group, only group members can view the contents of it's group.

Hope this helps, looking forward to have you on board with us!

Hi Mark,

as always thanks for the super fast response.

Just to clarify the group visibility at point 1. With the invite only group, does this mean that when members click on the Groups, they cannot see the group names even in the list? For example (without the hack) Jomsocial shows all groups including Private groups when you first click on All Groups. This isn't practical for us.

Our tasklist process is always the same, it will include the same steps over and over - just for different projects. Is there anything you know of that will integrate with easysocial that would allow us to create a generic task list? We are basically using it as a project management tool.

I have to say, i am a big fan of your products, they are always first class - as is the support, and I am sure EasySocial will be the same. I just want to be sure I can get as close to doing what I need to with it before I finally switch.

One last question, is it possible to group/categorise types of contacts? i.e. into Friends, work Colleagues, Suppliers etc.? This was the only feature I ever liked of community builder

Kind rergards

Hello Mel,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. Kindly please find the response to your inquiries below:

Yep, that is right unless you are a site admin because site admin should be able to view all groups regardless of the group type.

Hm, to be honest I am not really sure if there are any 3rd party solutions for this currently

Yes, you can group your friend's list by creating friend lists

Hope this helps!
