Hello from Paris

I would create one - and only one - Event for every Group.

For instance, for the Group 'Marathon of New-York' (see screenshot), I would pre-filled the Event with the day of the marathon.

Also, I don't want that members can create another Event for this category of Groups.
Hey Henri,
I finally understand your objective now. Since you are entering the event information in the group info, you can just disable event creation completely in group category ACL(http://take.ms/sizUe).

As for inserting custom fields in the group information page, it all depends on what kind of fields you want to insert. All the available fields are already in the group category custom fields page.

Hi Henri,

I'm not really getting what you mean here. Can you elaborate more on what you mean by this sentence?
I don't want that members can create another Event for this category of Groups.
You can disable event creation in Profile Types of the users. That way they would not be able to create events(http://take.ms/i91zI).
However, super users and group owners can still create events in the group. So if you are a super user or group owner, you would not be affected by that ACL setting and can create that one event per group that you mentioned.

Hi Raymond;

Good to know for the second part of my question . I will try it later today.

For the 'pre-filled Event', here is my concern :

- when I create a new Group, for exemple 'London Marathon'
. I go to the backend and I create a Group, based on a Category 'European Marathon'
. I add the British Flag
. I add the URL to the official site of the London Marathon
. ... and I would like to add the Event, filled with the date of the London Marathon

- I tried to add the custom field 'Event' (like I did for the custom field 'web link') but I do not see the Event when I display the Group

Clear enough now?

Henri

Hey Henri,
Can you provide us your backend access at http://stackideas.com/dashboard/site so I can have a closer look at the group you created? Thanks.

P. S: For your event creation permissions, you can also try out this custom field for the group(http://take.ms/IjgVwU). You can edit this information in each group too.

EDIT: Included screenshot link.

Sure Raymond

I have a doubt : can I give you my credential in THIS ticket or do I need to create a ticket for-your-eyes-only?

Hey Henri,
You can edit your opening post on top and include the information in the site details(http://take.ms/6P1mZ). All information in the site details are private.
In addition, I can also mark this thread private if you like.

Hey Henri,
I tried to add the custom field 'Event'
Can you provide a screenshot of this 'Event' custom field? We do not have this custom field in groups. The 'Event Creation' custom field I mentioned earlier is for specifying which group member rank is allowed to create events in the group.

Do you mean that instead of creating events in the group, you want to enter the event information inside the group information? For example, I created a date/time custom field where you are able to enter the date/time while creating/editing a group in that group category. There are different types of custom fields you can use, depending on what kind of information you want to display.

yes

for instance, in the Group 'London Marathon', I want to associate an Event where I edit the date, number of persons at this event, etc.
Different Group, different Event.
1 Group = 1 Event only (I don't want that members add other events for this Group)

The use case is :

- I want to join runners at the London Marathon
- I search a Group with 'London'
- I open the 'London Marathon' Group
- I see the information (or link) to the Event for this group : date, restaurant, picture meeting, etc.
- I join this event
