I updated EasyBlog from 5.0.35 to 5.0.44 using the Full Installation method.

After the update, the showcase module and some other article displays on the site are not displaying properly for users.
If I open a post and make no changes but click update post, it fixes it.

Main issues noticed:
1) Showcase module on the Dashboard page does not show all articles from the selected category (this does not happen to super users)
2) Showcase module on the Articles page does not scroll through posts, just lists all posts vertically. (this happens to registered and super users)
3) The Articles page should list all posts from newest to oldest, registered users only see 6 posts, if you edit a post on the backend and update it, the users can see it again. Super users always see all posts.

I have purged all cache on the site and run the EasyBlog database maintenance. So far the only way to fix it is to manually update each post. Is there something wrong in the database? Or a script I could run to update all posts at once? Maybe something wrong with ACL?
Hi there,

Currently, we are not sure why this happened on your site as we cant replicate this locally as this is not related to it update/upgrade as there are not update/upgrade on blogs revisions and currently, you have to re-open those post again and updated those post again in order for them to be shown for your Registered user.

By the way, i have re-open and republished them for you, and it should working fine now. Please give it a check and see how it goes

Hi there,

Sorry for the delay of this reply. It seems that i cant access your backend and FTP access using given credential for further check on this issues. And maybe provide us with backend URL as i tried http://thread.c-cgroup.com/adminsitrator and it seems that it cant be reached https://screencast.com/t/eCAv9mOYM. Please advice.

By the way, maybe this is because of the maintenance scripts run, as you have to re-open your categories/post in order for it to get the latest version as for categories to get it latest ACL and for post to get it latest revision. Please advice.

Hello Warith,

My apologies, all the server access issues should be fixed, I just tested them and everything is working now. Please try again when you have time.

I don't understand that this would be caused by the maintenance scripts. I had the problem after upgrading and ran the maintenance to try and fix the problem but it made no difference. I have opened many posts and categories but it makes no change unless the post is opened (either by the author or a super user) and then Update Post is clicked, if that is the only fix it would take a long time to click for hundreds of posts! I don't think this is expected behavior, I think the site wouldn't change so much after an upgrade.

Thank you for your help!

I checked and the server is working. The protocol is SFTP, regular FTP will not work, maybe that is why you couldn't connect?

Thank you!

Yes, it looks like the slider on the Articles page is working now. But the slider on the front page (Dashboard) still does not show all the articles from the Company Announcements category like it should. Also the listings below the slider on the Articles page are missing a lot of articles.

Do you mean guest user unable to view those blog post on your site?

Can you check my attached screenshot below, can you set all the folder/file to writable permission?

Except this configuration.php file , this have to set to unwritable permission.

No, guests should not be able to view the articles and that is working as expected. But for instance if you use the user-level login I provided you can only see some blog posts by going into the category. All blog posts should be listed under the slider on the Articles page for registered users. Also for the Company Announcements category, all of those articles should be on the front page (Dashboard) slider. The super user does not have the issue, only the registered users (non super user) has the issue.

I fixed the folder permissions.

Thank you

Well thank you all for your help. I'm sorry to hear that there is no explanation.
The site looks better now and all the posts are showing up as expected. The site is fixed, but I would say it is not an ideal fix because now the EasySocial stream is not correct, it makes it look like all of the posts are updated. I will have to clean up the stream.

I don't know if you want to do it, but I can restore the site from a backup of EasyBlog 5.0.35 and you can run the update to 5.0.44 to see if you can find the true cause of the issue? Let me know if you want to do this.

Thank you!

Hi there,

For now i have cleared all your stream update on EasySocial, please give it a check and see how it goes.

I think i will test this locally, and see if we can replicated this locally, we will implement those fixes on this issues on our next release version. Thanks for your understanding
