Hello, Is it possible to have Easyblog installed on multiple sites. Then use one of the sites as a master so when you post a blog on that one site it posts to all the others sites aswell?

Is this possible or would I just have to manually copy the same post to the other sites.

Thanks Phil
Hi Phil,

Kindly find my response for your inquiries below:

Yes you can If some of your site domain is not listing in the support domain, you can use full package installer

Perhaps, you can use feed importer feature, where allows you to import RSS feed from other sites into your blog. https://take.ms/QCCy2
For further information, you can read it on our documentation here:
https://stackideas.com/docs/easyblog/administrators/configuration/feeds-importer

Hope this helps

I am having issues trying to setup a News feed import. I want to import everything over as it stands in the main blog however it is asking to me to add the feed to a category. I don't want to add it all to one category, I want it to import all the categories and the posts that are within them so it is all identical?

I have also set up a quick test and when I click the Test Import button I just get an error of "There is nothing to be imported from the remote site currently"?

I see, if you want each blog post have the same category as per your imported feed's site, unfortunately, it is not possible
Where as per feed url, it will assigned to single category.
Perhaps, you can use other workaround suggested by ssnobben above to set up a Joomla multisite master/slave sites

I have also set up a quick test and when I click the Test Import button I just get an error of "There is nothing to be imported from the remote site currently"?

I am not able to access your backend as it shown https://take.ms/h0V5p
By the way, may I know the feed url that you try to feed import? so that I can try it locally

Thanks for your cooperation and understanding Karen

I have updated the credentials for you. If you can remove fairfieldvets.co.uk from the membership and add in datapath.de that be great.

I am using datapath.co.uk as my master easyblog so I have taken the RSS feed URL from that which was this: https://www.datapath.co.uk/index.php?option=com_easyblog&view=latest&format=feed&type=rss

I have then created a feed importer in datapath.de and used the RSS URL above. For now I have created a separate category I can import it all into for now.

I imagine this is the correct way around to do it all. I have attached my datapath.de settings aswell

Hey there,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here.

You have to enable this RSS option from backend https://take.ms/YJI6e under this domain site http://www.datapath.co.uk then other site can able to import your main site feed.

By the way, if you would like to import certain category into certain category on your new site, you have to enable just now that RSS setting as what I mentioned in earlier, then you will see that RSS icon for each of the category on your frontend category listing page https://take.ms/iPniz .

Hello, I am not sure what you mean by this,

"By the way, if you would like to import certain category into certain category on your new site, you have to enable just now that RSS setting as what I mentioned in earlier, then you will see that RSS icon for each of the category on your frontend category listing page https://take.ms/iPniz ."

Does this mean I can import from one category to the same category. I don't understand how I can do this?
It has successfully imported to one category which I called "import feed"

I have also noticed that when testing import it hasn't called in any pictures how do I get it to also import all the images?
I had the setting 'Import Image Enclosure As Post Cover' turned on but doesn't seem to have done anything.

Thanks

In what my colleague mean by it is,you actually can import the blog post according to the category, by using single category's rss feed instead of listing's rss feed (all post's rss feed).
For example, I want to take blog post from 'command and conquer' category in site A and import into my other site B which is with the same category, you can use different feed url to different category https://take.ms/nLeb0 . For instance: https://take.ms/sKQNw

I have also noticed that when testing import it hasn't called in any pictures how do I get it to also import all the images?
I had the setting 'Import Image Enclosure As Post Cover' turned on but doesn't seem to have done anything.

Can you try setting the rss as per screenshot shows below https://take.ms/kvs2L in the site https://www.datapath.co.uk ?

Thanks for your help. I imagine I can only do one category at a time and in the long run I would have liked to have a cron job so it automated the process. This wouldn't be possible with the way you explained above?

I also set that setting on the Datapath.co.uk to fulltext however it is still not importing over any images?

Yes, it is easier if you make cronjob for these feed import I have forgotten to attach another image in the previous reply. You can refer the single category rss screenshot above.

I also set that setting on the Datapath.co.uk to fulltext however it is still not importing over any images?

I have also tested locally, it seems like there is issue regarding this. I have logged this into our issue tracker and our developer will take an action for this.

Thanks if you can take a look at the issue regarding the image import.

"Yes, it is easier if you make cronjob for these feed import I have forgotten to attach another image in the previous reply. You can refer the single category rss screenshot above."

From what you said above can I setup separate cron jobs for each category. So I can pull all the posts through to the correct categories or can I only do it one at a time?

You only need to setup one cronjob for feed importer, where once the cronjob process, it will import all the feed import that you have enabled in the backend https://take.ms/pvBd9m .
For further cronjob command and further understanding you can refer in the documentation here https://stackideas.com/docs/easyblog/administrators/configuration/feeds-importer

Thanks that is great! I had in my my mind I could only create one feed importer but you can create separate ones for each category.

If you can let me know once the issue with the images not being pulled in with feed is sorted, that will be appreciated.

Thanks

Hey Karen,

For the quick fix, I would suggest that turn off these following setting, you can check my attached screenshot below.

- Import Image Enclosure As Post Cover
- Get full text from feed

Since you already change this domain https://www.datapath.co.uk Easyblog "Blog Content Taken From" setting getting from fulltext, so it will import everything as what you see from the blog entry page e.g. https://www.datapath.co.uk/datapath-news/entry/vsn1192-announced-as-finalist-for-upcoming-av-awards

However, I already help you turn it off those setting on your site, can you try import and see how it goes?

For now you can try unpublished all the feed except this 'Command and Control Feed' then I did help you set this 'Total Items' per time from 100 to 5. And I am not encourage you set to 100 for each of your feed, it might be hit timeout error when you import all the 10 feed per 100 item in every 5 minute.

Hello Thanks I have ran a test import on Command and Control however It still doesn't import the cover photo. So this is no good to me I need it to import the posts so they are identical to the other site.

It import an image over within the post itself however this is not set as a post cover image.
https://www.datapath.de/datapath-news/entry/vsn1192-announced-as-finalist-for-upcoming-av-awards

Thanks I will need to wait for a fix do you know when this will be so I can let my client know?

Hello I am sorry I have been checking every version and we are now on 5.3.6 and this is still not working for me? It is still not pulling through the cover images?

The posts are also built using the Easyblog Composer but when they are being imported, they are just HTML in the WYSIWYG editor.

At closer inspection the cover image file URL is appearing but at the bottom of all the content however the image file itself is not being imported. I have attached a screenshot for reference.

Hi Karen,

As this thread is quite long, can you create a new ticket and provide us with proper steps as I tried to replicate this issue it seems to working fine as per after initial fix pushed in our repository

The posts are also built using the Easyblog Composer but when they are being imported, they are just HTML in the WYSIWYG editor.

This is actually a default behavior.
