In composer, I create a blog, format it the way I want and click on preview blog.
I don't get a preview window of the blog.
Please advise,
G
Hello Gilles,

Can you provide us your backend and FTP access so we can have a better look on your issue here?

Hi Giles,

I've checked your site and it seems like you do not have any of the frontpage menu item and the reason why the post preview is not appearing is because of misleading redirection after the blog is save for preview. May I have the permission to reconfigure your menu item so that it will work correctly?

Hi Ezrul,
I'm not sure what you mean by "do not have any of the frontpage menu item", or why this should make a difference but yes, do what it takes to fix it.
1. Ensure the site (sidebars, etc) are not affected in any way
2. Hopefully you can fix it without hacking the code in order to maintain the fix on updates.

Keep me posted.

Hi Gilles,

I am sorry for the late reply.

I have inspected your site and your menu item, right now whenever you want to preview the blog, it always go to this menu item: fairy-tale-blog (624) . It should use this menu item: blog (794) which is frontpage menu item. As my colleague mentions before, without this menu item, EasyBlog cannot function properly.

In the earlier EasyBlog 3.9, there is an option to force EasyBlog to use specific menu item for EasyBlog. However, we have remove this option in order to make EasyBlog much simple in EasyBlog 5. Right now, EasyBlog 5 follows a rule in which it will use the first menu item of EasyBlog which it found first - in this your case, fairy-tale-blog (624).

In order to fix this, we need to reconfigure the menu item; EasyBlog frontpage menu item to be the first one EasyBlog found. It should have the smallest id among other EasyBlog menu.

Just an head-up, during this process, we will unpublished or delete certain menu item in order to fix this issue. Just a precaution steps, we advising you to backup your site and your database as well.

Please let us know once you ready and we will proceed with the process.

Still unclear when you say "It should use this menu item: blog (794) which is frontpage menu item. "

What's the easiest way to fix this? I don't mind changing the BLOG menu item to another type as long as the outcome/display is exactly the same as it currently is. We want the BLOG menu item to display a single blog post.... the latest one. Under 3.x we had to use the Single Post menu type as we could not get the output formatted in the way we wanted. Because of this we had to manually change the BLOG menu item to point to the newly created blog post every time one was created. What we want is shown when you go to the "BLOG" main menu item of the site.

What do you recommend?

Hello Gilles,

Please replace the attached file in: ../administrator/components/com_easyblog/includes/router.php and see how it goes.

Thanks Nik but I think you misunderstood. As mentioned:

"We want the BLOG menu item to display a single blog post.... the latest one. Under 3.x we had to use the Single Post menu type as we could not get the output formatted in the way we wanted. Because of this we had to manually change the BLOG menu item to point to the newly created blog post every time one was created. What we want is shown when you go to the "BLOG" main menu item of the site"

What's the best way to do this, using the stock EB without patching it?

There is a bug on the preview posts and this fix will be included in 5.0.20.
