I am attempting to use the Post Map Module and I can get the markers to display but the map itself does not render. It however works on other pages oddly. It only renders on EasyBlog pages so I am thinking that there are some scripts needed that are not loading. It appears to me after viewing the source code that the google map api javascript is not loading.

I can also not get it to respect height/width settings in the module.

Also need to see if you can add the max/min zoom level settings to the module? It makes sense to have it on the article but also in the module.

Thanks,
James

Hello, dear support, could you please provide an answer to this problem, as I am having the same one? As there has been an issue with this module before, why hasn't it been solved yet?
Thank you.

Hi James,

Hm, it seems like there are some redirection where it will redirect me to www right after logged in. I also tried to remove www infront the url but it will automatically redirected me to www instead of non-www. Please advise.

Susanne,

May I know what issue you are having here? We haven't got the chance to troubleshoot James issue as we are not able to access his site currently.

Hello James,

I'm sorry for the late reply. I've fixed your issue. Now it shows the map: http://screencast.com/t/5I7eUFzDc05 . For those who are having this issue, please replace the attached file in: ../modules/mod_easyblogpostmap/mod_easyblogpostmap.php. We will include this fix in the next version.

What about these additional issues:

I can also not get it to respect height/width settings in the module.

Also need to see if you can add the max/min zoom level settings to the module? It makes sense to have it on the article but also in the module.

Thanks,
James

It actually seems as though none of the parameters for the map are working.

Thanks,
James

Hello James,

Please replace the attached file in: ../modules/mod_easyblogpostmap/tmpl/default.php and see how it goes.

It is still not working as it should.

Please look at it on my website and you will see that elements are missing such as the Map UI, the Map Height and Width are not working, the markers are NOT constraint to fit inside the view area, etc...

Hello James,

May I know if you have server side caching? Because I've modified your js file to check on the marker issue and it does not make any changes. By the way, for the parameter issue, replace the attached file in my previous reply into your site, the width and height is working. Please verify this.

1. Server side caching was enabled, I was not aware and it has been disabled.
2. The file was/is replaced so height/width are now constrained to max pixels.

Unfortunately, the Map UI is not present as previously mentioned.

Other issues include:
- Map is not centering so that markers are visible
- Map should also be able to be set by width percentage and not just pixels
- Map should feature clustering

Can you fix the above items?

Thanks,
James

Mark, if the login didn't work for you its because you typed it wrong.

I just logged in using the same credentials I provide to the Stackideas team.

I am a little frazzled at the fact that this has been reported since the 26th and only part of the issue is resolved. I don't see the team being pro-active and addressing ALL of the problems at hand in one effort.

Hey James,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. Ah yes I must have done the copy pasting with the whitespace. Okay there's a couple of issues here and they are mostly related to the css. There seems to be a padding-top of 100% which causes the marker to not center itself and there are several other javascript quirks which Nik has already ironed out.

We will roll out another update shortly for this module as well to allow width / height in percentage rather than pixels.

Thanks Mark and Nik, are the issues related to the map UI going to be resolved in the next release as well or should they be fixed now because I do not see the Map UI and I have it enabled.

Thanks,
James

A couple of other things...

Can you change the Show Author in helper.php to this:

if ($params->get('showauthor')) {
$blogger = '<a href="'.$post->author->getProfileLink().'"><div class="ebpostmap_blogger">'.JText::sprintf('MOD_EASYBLOGPOSTMAP_POST_BY', $post->author->getName()).'</div></a>'."\n";
$post->html .= $blogger;
}

This makes the Author name linked to their profile not only the avatar. You may want to move the linking after the By language string.

Second, can you add a script/option int he module to display the current viewed users profile's map spots? In theory this would work so that if I am viewing another users blog profile I would see the blog entries on a map that they have made. And likewise if I am viewing my own profile I would see my own entries on the map.

Thanks,
James

Hello James,

I've modified this file in your FTP: ../modules/mod_easyblogpostmap/tmpl/default.php to make the Show Maps UI works. Please verify this.

As for the other requirements, we will discuss whether to include it or not in our repo. The author link seems acceptable.
