Thumbs up for this feature! It would certainly be a modern feature. Personally I really enjoy fancybox 2 for choice of lightbox. I believe this forum uses it for attachment display.

Another thumbs up for this. Ideally the pop-up would incorporate some sort of slide show with thumbs for multiple photo uploads or galleries.

Just more comment for this Mark, could viewing albums also be done in a light box that could be full-page rather then the restricted size at the moment. Or is it already there and I have missed a setting somewhere?

Unfortunately we don't actually have plans yet for an album lightbox but a photo lightbox is definitely being added

Yes, this is in the new version Click on the photos in the stream .

I just want to say Mark that I think it's awesome that you folks made it optional for the user! This is exactly the kind of thing I was hoping for (even better than what we thought it might be).

wow .. i wanna see this .. since i don't have access to beta ... curious to know .. when the photo pops up, does the comments also included like in fb?

I attached a screen shot showing what it looks like. I've also tested it as a "dark theme" using CSS which also looks good.

My question: is popbox available only for stream? What's the point of this behaviour? Shouldn't it be available everywhere I can click an image?

It's available outside the stream! You have to "view in popup" as seen here:

This popup is awesome!!! I do wish that it would work automatically in the community stream, the way it does in my profile page. Not sure if this is a bug, or intentional... :P

Hm, in the stream the popup should work automatically. On the photos page however, the popup is not used by default because navigating in a popup on the photos page doesn't really make sense

Not for me unfortunately. The pics in the community feed (News feed) open into their own page. The pics in my profile though open into a popup. Should I put this in the issue forum?

Yes, if you have issues with the photos on the stream not appearing as popups, please create an issue on the issues page.

If I may react on an old topic, I think it can makes sense to have popup on the album page instead of the photo page. Indeed, Joomla is a CMS with lots of modules… usually displayed on sidebars. The downside is that you have less space to display the picture. But your gorgeous popup allows us in an elegant way to display the photo in all the space available.

So I would really like to see an option to allow the link to photos in an album page to load the popup instead of the detail page. And I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one.

You can compare both on my configuration. I'm sure this is not every site, but I'm also sure there are others like me!

Alex mentioned this in another thread. As I recall Mark was going to make the popbox configurable and have it consistent through out the entire gallery.

This is configurable in 1.2.11. We were supposed to release yesterday but we're still addressing a teething issue with small images on the stream (We're working on a fix on that)

2 little questions, Mark. Is there an option to set to allow on image menu to set it as cover (album cover, group cover) or avatar (user avatar, album avatar, group avatar) and an option to display the group albums of a user in his list of albums (I don't think it's working like that right now, is it?)

Sorry but I don't quite understand you here.

Well, what I would like is to be able, when I'm on a photo detail page, to set this image directly as a cover or avatar. Right now, I think the only way is to click on the "change avatar" link and navigate through the media manager (which is cool, that is not my point).

I think it would be more user friendly if you were able to watch your album then you're like "hey, this photo is so cool, I want it as my profile pic/profile cover/this group profile pic/cover". Click on the image menu and set. I made 2 mock-up to explain me better.
