I have a few questions to prepare the migration from Joomla 3.2 with current Jomsocial 3.xx As I know ES does currently not support events and groups so maybe I have to wait some more time to migrate, but maybe I can install ES in parallel on my existing page without being visible to my users? This would be a good possibility to test the migration tool, wouldn't it? When releasing groups and events I could do a second migration to migrate the missing things....

Next thing I would like to know if ES is usable with the Joomla standard template Protostar?

Please give me a hint how to proceed.

Thanks
Horst
Hello Horst,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply, it's a public holiday for us here in Malaysia. Please find the answers to your inquiries below:

Last question - hopefully - is it possible to create a new album with my account and change afterwards the owner in phpmyadmin? Where do I have to do this?

Yep, that would be possible . You just need to change the `uid` column within the table jos_social_albums

Cover photos are already done from me manual - how to handle photo albums ?
How do i activate the ES navigation module on the right site of your demo page (see attached file)

Ah, this is actually done through the Joomla's module manager. Go to the module manager and create a new module for the menus that you want to display in the module.

Yep, that's possible and in fact, EasySocial can run side by side with all your existing extensions quietly without people being able to view it Yes, in fact we test it with Protostar quite a bit

That's fine - I will keep you informed.....

Do I have something to keep in mind when migrating more than once? (double entries?)

Sure, let me know how it goes Don't worry about double migration because EasySocial will keep a copy of items that it migrates and will never re-migrate the same thing again unless you purge the migration history.

Hi,

I currently migrated from Jomsocial to EasySocial and it seems to be fine - except the users Avartar and their profile background photo...
Maybe this happened because of the previous migration from Joomla 2.5 to 3.2 ?

Thanks for your support!

I just recognized that all my photos and albums that are uploaded after the Joomla/Jomsocial migration are not available.....

There seems to be an error during the migration - see attached file:

Hi,

It's me again after some thoughts about my mistake. One week ago I upgraded from Joomla 2.5 to Joomla 3.2 including upgrade to Jomsocial current version. I used the component "MigrateMe Plus" and everything went fine. I recognized that I have now double SQL tables - old ones with Prefix jos_ and new ones with mmp_jos_

Using the migrating tool of ES I saw that e.g. Users were found double and the second one wasn't migrated - maybe this could be the issue for the missing avartars and photos.....?????

How to handle now a second migration after manual deleting the "old" Joomla tables with prefix jos_....

Thanks for your support!

As an additional Info - the migration seems not to be the issue for the mssing photos and avatars because all new users since the migration are available.....

Hi Horst,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

Regarding your issues with the JomSocial migration, can you pass me your Joomla backend superadmin login credential and your ftp account so that I can further investigate your issue? Also, is that okay if I re-run the migration for you? I will purged the previous migrated data and then do a re-migration. If you are okay with this, then can you pass me also your phpmyadmin access so that I can work with the EasySocial db tables.

Please also backup your Joomla site the database before I proceed further so that anything goes wrong, you still have the change to revert back to the original state.

Please advise.

Hope this help and have a nice day
Sam

Hi Sam,

thanks for your feedback. I really appreciate your support! Please try to fix the issue - I sent you all necessary information to acces my data. Please take care to use the right database because there are a lot of other live pages existing......

In case of any further necessary input, let me know. I made a new backup to the database this morning...the page is "brandnew" so there is not much data /traffic available at the moment......

Thanks for your support!

Hi Horst,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

Thanks for the access information

Today i tried to run the migrator and I hit this error:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 13056 bytes) in JOOMLA/administrator/components/com_easysocial/includes/image/adapters/asido/class.driver.gd.php on line 337

Look like when the migrator attempt to migrate user avatar, the server hit the memory limit

Can you try to increase the memory_limit from your php.ini to higher value? Currently your memory_limit is 128mb. Can you try to increase this setting to 256mb or 512mb? The reason is that EasySocial actually recreating the images and resize the avatar into various sizes, and during the resize process, it might take up some memory resources.

If you are unsure how to increase the memory_limit, then you might need to contact your hosting provider and ask them to do for you

Once you've increase the memory_limit, you can then re-run the migration again
Hope this help and have a nice day
Sam

Hi Sam,

thanks for your support - 128MB is at the moment the maximum I personally can choose. At the moment I am waiting for a feedback from my hosting provider. If there is no chance to increase is there any other possibility? Does this only affect the avartars? Or all other photos, background covers......

Hello Horst,

Image manipulation uses lots of memory and because there are times that the image that is on the server has a pretty large dimension, it uses even more memory

The only work around currently is to actually request the hosting company to increase the memory_limit. I am not too sure why they are reluctant to do it because it does not mean that PHP will use them up all.

Okay, I can understand.....but also my 2nd request to the provider for a short time of memory increasement did not help Maybe one other question is the path in the error message:

"JOOMLA/administrator/components/com_easysocial/includes/image/adapters/asido/class.driver.gd.php"

the real path is: html / rhein-neckar-aktiv.de / components / com_easysocial

Is it possible as admin to upload all existing avatars, background covers to the existing users. At the moment there are only a few ones......Same procedure for photo albums - create them as admin an reassign them to other users?

Another thing I cannot understand - some things were migrated successfull, even some photo albums......as far as I see is the error only since the timestamp of the Joomla and Jomsocial upgrade. Ist that possible?

Hello Horst,

This problem only affects certain images that has very large dimensions which causes the PHP GD library to consume more memory than usual Hence, it only failed on specific images only.

I got it working - I had to empty the table "jos_community_photos".....is there any way to import this table values in the correct ES ones because I made an export before starting the migration.

Hello Horst,

Unfortunately the only way is to re-import them again because those files are still physically on your site Is there a lot of photos in your existing JomSocial table?
