As of now if you pin an item(events/groups/pages) in the stream of your site it will be pinned in the timeline of the event/group/page.

This seems odd to me!

Would it not make sense to be able to pin these items to the main stream?

eg I pinned an "Event" item in the main stream of my site:

But it is pinned in the timeline of the Event for my site & not the main stream.

This does not seem very logical to me!

Apparently, the same "logic" applies to Pages and Events!?!

Maybe room for improvement?
