Hello

When ES needs to rotate a photo on upload (using EXIF Orientation info), upload fails. If I set "Import EXIF Data" to "No" in ES settings, upload is OK (but of course photo orientation in ES is not correct).

Not sure this is an ES issue, I tried on your demo site (ES 1.3.8) and it worked fine. Maybe is this due to my hosting... but I don't know how to investigate this issue.

Thanks

Hi,

Sorry for late reply to this,

I have checked in your site and tried to upload that image file you provided, it seems like I hitting this error :

<b>Fatal error</b>: Out of memory (allocated 132382720) (tried to allocate 8992 bytes) in <b>JoomlaFolder/administrator/components/com_easysocial/includes/image/adapters/asido/class.driver.gd.php</b> on line <b>337</b><br />

Can you temporary increase your php memory_limit to 256MB and try again and see how it goes?

Hello

Thanks for the explanation, I should have seen this myself! I also tried rotating the image using the photo edit feature in ES and I (logically) get the same error message.

The problem is I am on a shared hosting (1&1, highest pack). Memory limit is set to 120M and cannot be changed. Probably some of your other customers are in the same situation, and may have the same issue, especially considering that this photo is not very big (about 9MP).

Rotation seems to take a lot of memory. One solution would be to resize the image before rotating it, instead of after. Rotating a smaller image whould then work. Maybe you should consider this for a coming ES version...

For now I think I have no other solution but disabling EXIF and tell my users to rotate their photos before uploading them. Or change from shared to dedicated hosting

Regards
