I cannot find the photo app on my profile. Here's a screen shot showing my app settings:

It would be really cool if the photo app could display like this (perhaps a setting):

FTP/Admin login is attached to this post.
Hello Josh,

The photo app doesn't show up on a profile. Some apps are meant to display widgets and depending on the app, it may or may not display itself on the profile. In this case, the photo app simply displays the recent photos on the sidebar of your profile (as widget)

Oh weird, now the widget is displaying just fine.

In the future it would be great if the admin could swap the display from a widget to a app on the profile. This way all the apps can be easily accessed by the user. The widget is certainly a decent display, but for some we want it to open up when clicked which is why an option to display as an app would be cool.

Yeah, that's what we are planning to do in the future as well Still thinking how to display photos nicely on a profile area with the much restricted width area

Why not display it similar to the album view? I generated a mockup of what I envision the photo app to look like on the profile:

See Full Resolution Version Here. I added the favorites part for when it comes out into ES. That spot seemed to be the most sensible place for favorites.

Hello Josh,

Your screen shot makes sense because you have a large component area. We did a survey and almost 80% of users have the component area's width around 700px. If you look at your screen shot, it would probably only fit in a couple of photos and the width of the photo cannot be that large.

I'm back to give a proper reply. This is where responsiveness comes in. Lucky for us the gallery is already responsive which will make this task a lot easier. Here is a screen shot I made of what it would look like on a 700px width component area (the screen shot is less than 700px wide):

I set the side bar width to 220px so that it reflects the same space used on the profile (I figured there was no need for me to re-create the design above considering this is to show space usage). Even on a small device the images look much nicer than the widget in terms of display. The options on hover show up fine too which surprised me in a positive way.

So in short, a responsive method for displaying the gallery as a profile app would play nice for all screen sizes. This will make accessing and viewing the photos more enjoyable on the profile.

All this time I didn't know there was an album app too. Anyways, the album app displays just fine on my profile, but the photo app does not show even though I obviously have photos uploaded and have the photo app set to default.

The photo app deals mainly with the widget and the stream. It doesn't actually do anything else

Just to let you know I also had this same issue - I installed the app but no pictures were showing on my profile so I went off browsing the forum :-) I have just looked again and the images are now showing so there seems to be a noticable delay between installing this app and it "kicking in"

I can't seem to replicate the issue now even after disabling albums and such. So if I have this issue again, I'll try harder to replicate it. Maybe this is one of those "happens on the first time" kind of things.

Yes, those photos are taken by me. My main hobbies are web development, mountaineering, and photography. I usually don't link to my photo gallery, but for those who are interested here are some more: http://www.joshlewis.name/photo
