Hey guys, I recently bought the Personal Goals Manager which has EasySocial integration, and I have to say, it has been a nightmare due to several compatibility bugs with YooTheme... and poor HTML which breaks under HTML minify.... and the EasySocial integration is very poor. Not to mention the UI is horrendous and super confusing... To fully use the component you need to add 3 separate menu items.... They have spent the last couple of weeks working on fixing my bugs, and everytime they claim to be done, I find more bugs.

I was wondering if anyone here has had better luck than me with it?

Also, Mark, I know you are great at talking with partners and getting them to step up to the plate. Could you try to help them elevate their standard of quality, both from a UI perspective and from an EasySocial integration perspective. I don't believe they even have points nor badges in their integration... It is a very expensive component, and if they don't step up the plate, I recommend you consider removing them from your app directory.

On a sidenote, Yoo Recipe has a fantastic and complete integration for EasySocial. You could tell them to look at that as an example of how to do it right.
Hello Jannik,

To be honest with you, I have never been in contact with Joomplace before. Perhaps you could try posting a support request on their forums?

haha, you know me, I am not shy with feedback. I have been providing them feedback. I just know your track record with making partnerships and helping third parties step up their game, so I figured it was worth bringing it to your attention. I must admit that based on the quality of their integration, I am not surprised to hear that they haven't been in contact with you.

Yeah, I guess customer voices are always louder than us partners / integrators. We really don't make a huge impact

Well, you have a much bigger impact than you realize. Stackideas singlehandedly has raised the bar in the component community to a point that people like me are staying with Joomla... when we really should be moving to Wordpress :P

Haha, if you ever move to Wordpress you'll definitely love Joomla. Believe me Although Wordpress is fancy and much nicer in general, I really find it very difficult to actually build stuffs around Wordpress (Perhaps it's just me) but Joomla offers much more extensibility compared to Wordpress.

hehe, well as I have worked with Joomla since Mambo, I have a similar mentality as you. In fact, I still suffer from the "Wordpress is only a blog" syndrome, which is an out of date mentality, considering Wordpress is now the most popular CMS in the world lol... but I honestly blame Joomla for making near impossible upgrade paths between long term and short term releases. Had it been easier to upgrade from 1.0 to 1.5... and from 1.5 to 1.6/2.5... Joomla would still have many more users.

A few years ago I thought it was cool to work exclusively with Joomla and Drupal.. but as of late, I have had to pick up several Wordpress projects, because that is what the demand is for. But for me WordPress lacks one thing... a good social networking component, I tried buddypress, but it cannot compete with EasySocial... and well, I also like the refreshing approach of EasyDiscuss versus your run of the mill forum. EasyBlog, I have to admit is your one component that I have had a love hate relationship with, for the last few years I have been jumping back and forth between EasyBlog, Zoo, K2, Com_content etc. which is why I am so excited about EasyBlog 4.0, as you have confirmed the introduction of some long awaited features

But all in all, if EasySocial and EasyDiscuss didn't exist, I would probably be on Wordpress or Drupal right now. It literally is thanks to your incredible work on the Joomla platform, that I still favour Joomla... In a world of overpriced and under performing components, you have shown the value in over delivering and providing world class service... as well as providing more value for money.

Thanks for the kind compliments Jannik With EasyBlog 4.0, it'll give you a different perception of Wordpress and Joomla altogether (I really believe so because I was astonished too)

Hi Janik

I have no idea of what you are up too but one of my pet projects is Project fork. There is no integration with stack ideas but they do provide very interesting powerful solutions. I use it in my front end as an admin to organise stuff for my site.

http://projectfork.net/

just an idea

@ Mark why don´t you drop them a line

Hello everyone,
Sorry for a late response but we have just recently run across this discussion and would like to explain the situation not to be unprofessional Joomla developers.

Concerning <<poor HTML which breaks under HTML minify>, we admit shortcomings from our side, they have been fixed ("<span class=" where turning into "<spanclass=").

We would like to clarify that the problem with incorrect connection with bootsrat.js wasn’t caused by our extension. Bootsrat.js is one of the basic J3 interface elements and our component accordingly. We hope that you understand that there is no reason to blame our extension for it.

Additional difficulties were caused by the changes you were trying to make inside the component’s code to fix above mentioned problem with bootstrap.js in parallel with us. As a result the changes we were making didn’t apply.

We admit that the component requires UI improvements and we are constantly improving it. The reason – the component contains a quite wide set of features. Few clients need the entire component’s functionality, a majority uses just one component’s specter that is why we tend to separate them. In your case placing completely different component’s parts on the same page caused bugs.

We are still working on EasySocial integration. Please, take into account that Personal Goals Manager is not an EasySocial application; it is a separate component that we decided to make EasySocial compatible. We decided to start small but we are working on fixing all the issues.

We are thankful for your review and will work harder to get rid of all the appearing bugs.
We received your detailed list of suggestions today and promise not to leave it without attention.

Kind regards,
JoomPlace team

Ah, nice to see you here on Stackideas forums. I appreciate you being proactive in improving things and I can attest to the html issue being fixed.

I am glad that you got my detailed email with suggestions and usability feedback, hopefully you guys can implement some of those changes to improve the experience. I also look forward to improvements in the EasySocial integration side.

I have to admit, it has been a frustrating experience thus far, but hopefully you guys can improve things.

I will also point out that if you guys need help improving the EasySocial integration, I am sure that Mark and the team here at Stackideas will be more than willing to help. Traditionally they have been very good at working with third party developers.

I too am looking for this very thing. I agree with Jannik's experience with the Personal Goals Manager and also glad to see that Joomplace are working on addressing any shortcomings.

Jannik, I posted a new thread based on your comment on a post that was recently closed by its originator. My post is here:
