Hi guys,

We're using Easydiscuss version: 3.2.9422 with Joomla 3.2.3 and Yootheme

We have restricted permission to view posts in certain categories however when someone clicks on a link to view a post that they don't have permission for (e.g. from the Jomsocial activity stream), they are directed to a 404 page error instead of a special Easydiscuss access permission page or a standard 403 page error.

We are receiving lots of complaints because there is no explanation of what has happened and people think our site is broken.

Is there a way to bypass the 404 page error and rather display an explanation of what happened?

Thanks and regards.
Hello Tony Zee,

Sorry for late reply to this,
Yes, the latest version of Easydiscuss already made it showing 404 page error if the user doesn't have the permission to access.
If you would like to make it override this 404 error message, we can hack back for you, is it possible provide us with your Joomla backend and FTP access ? Please advise.

Hi Arlex,

Thank you for your reply. I cannot unfortunately profile you with access to our site, it is a private site for a client and we cannot provide 3rd party access.

Are you able to let me know what file to modify with what code?

Any help is appreciated as it saves us time to figure it out ourselves.

Thanks and regards.

Hello Tony Zee,

Try rename this file view.html.php_bak or something else ->The file located JoomlaFolder\components\com_easydiscuss\views\post\view.html.php

Then download my attachment here, then move it in this file JoomlaFolder\components\com_easydiscuss\views\post\

And see is it the 404 error already overridden by Easydiscuss error message ? Hope this help.
