Hello again.
My website content is in greek so whenever i use a greek title i'm forced to manualy change the permalink that also is in greek and causes bad urls. Is there a way to set the permalink so it can use some other other letters instead of greek?
for example when my title contains one greek letter i wanted to be converted to an english letter as shown below.
τ = t
π=p
σ=s
etc
Hey Chaon,

I see what you mean here. Unfortunately, if you do not want to have unicode permalinks for the blog posts, then you can either turn off unicode completely, or modify it manually.

Of course you can also use third party extensions if they can achieve what you want.

Hi Chaon,

Unfortunately it is not possible for the system to auto convert unicode characters to a character of your choosing.

The only methods to prevent unicode characters in the permalinks are:

1. Disable unicode aliases - this will convert the title to the date of the post. You can also edit the permalink if you want.

2. Manually edit the generated permalink

If you do not change the permalink, what do you mean by 'causes bad urls'?

I mean that when i use a greek blog title the permalink by default is also in greek so when i share those links the greek letters show bad for example

website.com/εχει-ο-καιροσ-γυρισματα-δυο-οψεις-εχουν-ολα-τα-νομισματα

shows as

website.com/%CE%B5%CF%87%CE%B5%CE%B9-%CE%BF-%CE%BA%CE%B1%CE%B9%CF%81%CE%BF%CF%83-%CE%B3%CF%85%CF%81%CE%B9%CF%83%CE%BC%CE%B1%CF%84%CE%B1-%CE%B4%CF%85%CE%BF-%CE%BF%CF%88%CE%B5%CE%B9%CF%82-%CE%B5%CF%87%CE%BF%CF%85%CE%BD-%CE%BF%CE%BB%CE%B1-%CF%84%CE%B1-%CE%BD%CE%BF%CE%BC%CE%B9%CF%83%CE%BC%CE%B1%CF%84%CE%B1

Till now i manually change the permalink but i remember that some other joomla 3rd party extentions where providing this option

Sorry for bringing up this old post but while trying EB6 i noticed that the function that i was asking about in this thread is working. Is this an implementation only on EB6 or it can work on latest stable version as well? and if yes how?

To sum it up, ss i mentioned back then when using a greek title i want the permalin to auto convert the characters from greek to latin.

Regards

Hi Chaon,

I tried this on EasyBlog 6 and the system does not convert Greek characters to latin in the post permalink. It only uses the date and time when unicode setting is turned off. Perhaps something else is converting it on your EB6 instance?
