Hi,

I've set one of profile type to 'Moderate Page Creation=Yes'.

It works correctly but after approve the page, when admin user edit it from front end, then click submit button, the page unpublished automatically and back to pending approval.

Is this a correct behavior when setting 'Moderate Page Creation=Yes'?

Thanks.
Hi Syabab,

Yes, it is the correct behavior

Hi there,

Currently, that how it behave actually. It will be move to under moderation. We enforce it to be under moderation because users can create a good one for first time, and once approved, they will change and maybe create a bad/not good one after the edit/update.

But it would be best if you can submit a feature request regarding this issues by creating a new ticket on the forums and set it to "Feature Request", so everyone else could vote for it, the more people request on this, and we will priority consider it.

Thanks for your understanding.

Syabab, did you submit this a feature request? I'd like to vote this one up.

I think you both are correct here. Users can make terrible updates/edits to their page, so some way to control potential chaos is arguably worth consideration. However, I think what would be most ideal is to have the updated page go through review and approval, without taking the original version offline. This means some type of versioning would need to be in place, I assume. This way, a Page/Business owner isn't getting pitentially penalized for keeping their Page up-to-date by unpublishing it while it's going through review. Yelp, Facebook, Google My Business, etc... would not do this without tremendous backlash. That being said, unless there is a way to submit the updated "version" of the Page for review without unpublishing the Page listing altogether, then I'd air on the side of just allowing Page updates to be approved automatically (or at least allowing that option)... Moderators could still be notified of pages that were updated if they want to manually review them.

Anyhow, just some thoughts there. I think StackIdeas is amazing and does a fantastic job with this product and their support. My thoughts are simply suggestions to help improve an already amazing product and participate in the community.

If there's a feature request for this, definitely let me know; it has my vote.

Cheers,

Hi,

Yeah I'm pretty sure someone will stumble upon this exact problem sooner or later.

Plus when a page admin edit the Page, and click submit, the Page unpublish by suddenly disappear from admin without any notice or clear notification before & after admin edited it.

Versioning would be an awesome feature. But what I need is just an ability for Page Admin to see and edit their own Pages while in 'Pending Review' or 'Under Moderation' mode.

Simple example here would be a Page canvas image. If website have some guideline about image to be use in canvas, and user upload a forbidden image, then moderator unpublish the Page and send a message to change the image, Page Owner or Page Admin will not be able to change that image without moderator re-publish or re-approved that Page again. (this will make website show the forbidden image and defeat the purpose of their guidelines). Then moderator have to wait for them to change the image. This goes for other custom field as well.

"We enforce it to be under moderation because users can create a good one for first time, and once approved, they will change and maybe create a bad/not good one after the edit/update."

When we create or edit a Page workflow, in custom field, we have an option to set the field Visibility to "Appear During Page Creation", "Appear During Editing" or "Appear During Displaying. Maybe here we can add "Appear During Review" where when admin edit this field (from frontend), it will trigger the Page to unpublish and go into 'Pending Review' or 'Under Moderation' mode. Of course an indicator or pop up should clear & visible to notify admin that this page will unpublish and Pending Review.

While we discuss here about Pages, I think this would be usefull for Groups, Events and Profile as well.

Syabab, did you submit this a feature request? I'd like to vote this one up.

I've created a Feature Request for you to vote

https://stackideas.com/forums/ability-to-edit-while-in-pending-review-mode

Same with Zehn, "My thoughts are simply suggestions to help improve an already amazing product and participate in the community."
