The quickly way is , if you would like to modified some of the English string, you can manually create this file on your site.

JoomlaFolder/language/overrides/en-GB.override.ini

Then put your custom translation language constant into this file, so it will not get override when you update to higher version in the future.

Do you mean i copy the contents from the original language.ini file and do modification and put in the "Overides" folder?

So system will always take the overide instead of the original folder?

Yes, that is correct, but you do not need to copy all the language translation string over this file en-GB.override.ini, you can just put which string you would like to modify.
