Thanks, but for now this is not an option for me. I am not ready to upgrade ES to 2.x and it seems that the latest version of discussApp is not backwards compatible with ES 1.4.12.

Yes, in EasySocial 2.x, we've updated the html layout structure thus all the EasySocial's apps has to be updated to follow the new layout structure as well. I strongly advise you to upgrade your EasySocial to version 2.x as we have added quite a number of features and system optimisation to enhance the overall user experience with EasySocial 2.x
