When I post an album, the oldest photos should display first instead of the newest. The reason for this is because people want to see photos in the order they were taken. So for example if I go on a trip they won't want to start out with the sunset photos and then later end with the things that I saw at the beginning.

I recommend the photo settings allow the admin to choose between oldest and newest photos for ordering.

When it comes to the stream it certainly makes sense to show the newest first because that is new activity going into the site. But when it comes to viewing an album, order certainly does matter.
I'm kinda wondering how would this be possible with the Load More button.

How about if "Load More" turns into "Load Older" and placed on top before the photo thumbnails, when the album view is configured to show items ascendingly.

The load more button is actually pretty cool, I wouldn't want to see that go away.

Anyways here is a fun little example from my site: http://peakbeta.com/photo/joshlewis
On the upper right side you can see a "Sort By". Keep in mind that it looks a little messy and could have been designed a little smoother, but gives you a good idea of how it could operate.

Regardless to the user choice, the admin should be able to choose the default sorting in albums.

This would work well if there's pagination instead of load more. It would be interesting to see if EasySocial can switch between these 2 modes for photo albums.
