I have followed the tutorial and read the documentation regarding notification and it is not working.

I set up two test publishers in joomla and test users.

The settings are not being adhearded to, does not matter what settings I use no email notification are being sent.

I have listed bad language which is being ignored??

This is not the product I was hoping it would be.

for your information no changes were made my end the smtp settings were in place, weeks ago and we were still having problems. There seems to be a delay from when a comment is submitted to the emails to publishers. I shall set up a cron job today and hope it works without any problems. I am still not confident that komento is stable. The fact that you are unsure as to why it has begun to work is a concern.

Perhaps you can let us check how you set up a cronjob on your server so we can help you verify whether it works or not?

I would like to know how long, approximately, it will be before the swear word filtering will be sorted.

Our developer still working on it, will update you once our developer fix this internal and finish test.

Question is it possible to assign different publishers to different joomla categories? I ask because there is a great chance of duplication if all comments are sent to all publishers?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to configure this.

Can you assign that user account you provided to super admin privileges so that I can able to access your site backend Komento configuration setting page?

Because I would like to check what is your current Komento notification setting.

Also, may I know which article page can able to do this test comment?

By the way, I would be recommended that setup cronjob on your server, so you do not need to rely on this "send an email on page load" setting to send out pending email notifications on the site because it might affect your site performance issue if there got a lot of pending email notification in the future.

From what I tested the new register on your site, it seems like the Joomla system also can't send out the activation email to me, you can check my attached screenshot below.

Perhaps you can consider using the SMTP mailer? You need to consult with your Webhosting provider to get this SMTP mailer access so you can able to configure this from the backend global configuration under the server tab setting.

Thanks the reCaptcha is working ok now.

I have changed the email setting to smtp. The site does not require people to register in order to post comments so not sure why you make reference to the registration form?

The posts are still showing up on the site even though the publishers have not approved the content?

Publishers are not getting email alerts? Please help me here I have set up as per documentation.

Actually, my previous intention is to try the default Joomla send email notification whether works or not only. if the Joomla also can't send the activation email notification to the newly registered user, meaning it will not work for the Komento email notification.

But after I tested finish this, I already help you turn off that "allow registration" from the backend.

Are you referring to the new comment? If yes, may I know which article post comment still showing even though the comment hasn't gotten approval by the admin?

This is the first thing to do to have a Joomla site to work with sending emails, notifications etc

I has nothing to do with other components if they work or not. So pls check this std settings first and test and then get back to see why it doesnt work for you with comments notifications,... etc

Hi,

Been working on the site today, PHP mail is working on joomla with no problems.
Komento still not sending emails or hiding comments that have not been approved.
Filters on swear words also not working. Help please.

Hmm, that is strange, I remember I've tested this using PHP mail previously on your site. https://stackideas.com/forums/notifications-not-working-4#reply-575143

But now it seems like the PHP mail seems fine today, this is what I've tested on your site https://library19.vcgwiki.com/index.php/legal you can check the following screenshot link.

- https://monosnap.com/file/ilRSgG7kXxYSnJOJzSGiP7K8ZwdCQv (if you don't see the email notification from this email account mailbox bob.stewart12@yahoo.com then you have to check the spam folder from your mailbox, sometime the email notification will land to the this spam folder)

If you want your email notification do not land to in the spam folder, I would suggest using SMTP mailer or a transactional mail service e.g. https://sendgrid.com/

It might be some of the possibilities why your e-mails lead into the spam folder.

1. Your domain has been somehow blacklisted.

2. You are using PHP Mailer to send e-mails which most email providers consider unreliable.

3. Your email server's IP address has been marked as spam.

Services like https://sendgrid.com/ provide email delivery services and allow you to set up SMTP authentication in your Joomla global configuration. Most of the time, e-mails delivered by these transactional e-mails would lead into the inbox.

In the event that the emails are also flagged as spam, you could get in touch with their support to look into this.

I have set and tested smtp with authentification and that works fines but still moderators are not getting emails not even in spam folders? see attached.

Hmm, it seems like you deactivated that user account, so I can't log in from your site backend today.

Perhaps you can share with us which moderators suppose to get the pending comment email notification?

So that I can take a look at your current setting? Because I remember the pending comment notification section you do not tick any (screenshot: https://monosnap.com/file/RTWZ444dRq5MDE6iwoA6CeuAr7vFEq )

If you would like your moderator's Joomla user group to receive this pending comment email notification then you have to tick the moderator user group under this setting.

Hi I'm back from my trip to Turkey,

Just tested the library19 smtp email settings and sent a test email which is working fine?
I submitted a test comment using komento and no notification emails sent to the group called 'Publisher' this is the group that has been set in komento to be alerted by email when a comment is submitted. No comment is published until it has been approved which means the system (komento) is not working.

I can not understand why this is happening. Please assist as I will have to abandon komento if I can not get it working soon.

I've helped you tick the "publisher" user group under the "new pending" notification setting, you should receive an email notification now about the new pending comment.

You can check my attached screenshot below.

The reason why the system doesn't notify this email account vcgtimes@protonmail.com is that this account is deactivated on your site now.

Then the system did send out the new pending comment email notification to your site user who is under the "publisher" user group, can you give it check this email account bob.stewart12@googlemail.com mailbox whether have received any email notification for this?

Why does your system send to the superuser and not the assigned 'publisher' group?
I have turned of the other 'publisher' member because they are on holiday. Yet the other registered publisher is not getting email only superuser?

Just for your information, the komento system has not recorded the email sent to the superuser, thought this might be of help in tracking down why the settings (notification settings to 'Publisher') are being ignored.

further investigation shows that the author of the comment does not get an email either even though it is set as yes in the settings.

Just to let you know I shall be scrapping Komento tomorrow if the issue is not resolved. I shall be asking for a full refund if the email issue is still ongoing. I'll leave it until 16:00 on the 26th May 2022 UK time. It did have potential but when you have to dig around to find out what is not working it seems the product has not had rigorous testing.

I must respectfully ask if it took you 10 years to test this komento plugin then it means that you either did not have a clear specification for the functionality of the plugin or you were very very slow at testing. I really am surprised that you are not able to pinpoint the possible problems I am having with your product if you have done 10 years testing and it still has problems? Please provide a full refund as I am not happy with your flippant remarks. This is not how I expected to be treated.

Bob, I am a just happy customer and you will sort out your problems if you just take your time to explain it in a good way. I understand if you frustrated and want it to work as expected.

Didnt you read what Kommento was able to deliver before you bought it? I am not an expert in Komment advanced user functions but working well for my needs.

If there is functions that is missing or can be delivered to your needs then maybe its not the right product for you or you can ask for a customisation i f its not a bug.. did you check your mail server and firewall settings that could be troublesome too sometimes?

I do NOT want any extra features. I set up users to be publishers of the comments before they go live, simple enough. As per the documentation. I confirmed my smtp email connect from joomla was working.

When a comment is submitted it does not get published as I set the komento configuration that way. So my settings are allow public to submit a comment, send email to the users in the 'Publisher' group and all should be fine, simple I thought. But no, superuser gets and email notification not the publisher group users? So the komento plugin is no use to me if it is ignoring the settings. Superuser is in charge of the joomla site and its functions not the content. If the publishers are not getting notification then it does not work as it say it should.

Hi Robert,
Why does your system send to the superuser and not the assigned 'publisher' group?
The system is sending the moderation email to bob.stewart12@yahoo.com(super user) because this user is the author of the post(Legal).

And the reason why the system is sending moderation email to the author is because this setting is enabled.
Settings>Notifications>General>Notify Author for Pending Comments
Once I disabled this setting on your site and posted another comment, the system no longer generates the email for the post author(bob.stewart12@yahoo.com). You can confirm this in the email activity section by posting new comments.

For the publisher, I checked the email activity section and can confirm that the email is generated as expected(attached1). Remember to select the filter under email activity to Select Status. This will show all the sent emails as well.

If you still have not receive the email for bob.stewart12@googlemail.com, you would need to check whether there are any hiccups on the mail server side. Perhaps you can ask the person who manages the mail server to see if there are activity regarding this email(bob.stewart12@googlemail.com) on the mail server.

About the swear words, I managed to identify a bug with the custom replacement text. Will log this in our tracker so the developers can address this. For now I would suggest not using the custom replacement text.

The system is sending the moderation email to bob.stewart12@yahoo.com(super user) because this user is the author of the post(Legal).


The system should never send a notification email to the author!? This defeats the whole idea of a 'Publisher' so shall we agree that the komento system is sending emails to either the superuser or the author, both would be malfunction.

So I created additional 'Publishers' 3 different email types yahoo (vcgdummy8@yahoo.com) protonmail (bob.stewart12@protonmail.com) and a new googlemail (bob.stewart12@googlemail.com)

I have attached the 3 confirmation email sent by the library19 website to show that joomla is indeed talking and successfully sending emails to the 3 different email types (see attached proof of email confirmation).

So I created some new comments and checked the 3 new 'publisher' email accounts. Only one worked, the vcgdummy8@yahoo.com the others do not recieve email notification. I checked spam folders and no email notifications sent to the protonmail or the googlemail addresses. Yet they did recieve emails when the accounts were created just moments earlier?

I feel I can say with confidence that my joomla site is able to send emails to all email types as I sent a mass mail to all 'publishers' and everyone in the 'publisher' group recieved the mass email?

It actually depends on the site owner whether they want the system to send an email notification (new pending comment) to the article author if a new comment is added.

In other words, if the site owner does not want the system to send an email notification (new pending comment) to the article author, we do have a setting to allow the site owner to turn it off.

I believe my colleague already mentioned in his previous reply that he did help you to disable this setting from the backend > Komento > Setting > Notifications > General > Notify Author for Pending Comments so the system now no longer send an email notification (new pending comment) to the article author (bob.stewart12@yahoo.com).

and see whether the system did generate the email notification for these publisher email accounts (bob.stewart12@protonmail.com and bob.stewart12@googlemail.com)?

Perhaps you can update again with your correct test account login credentials and allow us to do this investigation again today and see why only this email account vcgdummy8@yahoo.com can receive that new pending comment email notification instead of other publisher email accounts as well?

Hi I did not make myself clear in the last email the author settings had already been turned off and they got the email that the publisher should get, asking them to approve or delete. The author should NEVER get these emails? That is correct isn't it?

Anyway I have recreated the temp admin login for you, sent to the support email address.

can you create your own googlemail account and set up a publisher and perhaps a proton mail account as well and set them as a publisher also. This way you ccan get to the core of the problem as to why komento is not send emails to all in the publisher group.

Hi can you tell me what you did as it now seems to be working? I just did a test and all listed publishers got notification. I really would like to know what you did.

I am going to activate the cron job next week lets hope that goes smoothly.

To be honest, I never change any configuration on your site during last weekend, maybe you have adjusted your site mailer from PHP mail to SMTP? Because I noticed you have changed to use SMTP mailer now.

By the way, I did add a new comment to this article, can you check the following email account whether have received this new comment moderation email?

If you did receive it, means everything seems to work fine now.

But now I would like to suggest you set up a cronjob on your server, do you have a cronjob service available from your server? Because if you would like the system to automatically send out the email notification to the user, it is required to set up the cronjob on the server, so it does not need to rely on this "

Hi,

I'm not sure if I should be creating a new ticket or not? It is the same installation and I know that there isan update to the plugin but doon't want to undo any of the fixes you had to do.

So I created some comments and set the settings to allow people to respond (see attached screen shot) but there does not seem to be any obvious way to respond to approved comments? Please can you either tell me how someone post a responce or tell why the setting are being ignored?

Yes, you should start a new ticket on our forum.

Do you mean that you would like the guest user to respond to the approved comment on the article page?

If yes, you have to enable this "Reply Comments" permission from the backend > Komento > ACL > public and guest user group.
