Not able to edit stream item

The menu item "edit stream entry" in most cases does not appear. I can do everything else like: hide entry, delete entry, etc., but it is not possible to edit the entry to e. g. correct some mistyped characters.

However - in very rare cases the edit menu item shows up and I cannot find any logical explanation for it. Where can I reliably set up the edit stream entry functionality?
If the stream is added using the feature highlighted here, http://screencast.com/t/fVlXPPxA it can be edited. Other than that, the other stream items cannot be edited.

Hey Horst,

This is actually the default behavior of EasySocial. It currently only allows you to edit status updates (text) only.

What do you mean by status updates? Sometimes it is possible to edit the text in a certain stream entry but in most cases it is not possible. I do not understand why.
