I've only recently re-enabled blog comments on my posts. I've tried a test comment as a guest and although it appears on the back end for moderation, I'm not getting any emailed notifications that it's there. I appear to have all the settings right - or have I missed something?

Thanks.
Hey there,

If I understand your question correctly, do you mean that you just get email notification for comment moderation only right? If yes, you need to approve it first then there will be an email notification about there is a new comment added on the post.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

After someone posts a comment, I'm expecting an email to inform me that there is a comment ready for moderation - otherwise, how would I know? Currently, I'm not getting any notification.

Can you help with this?

Thanks.

Hey there,

I just performed a test comment as a guest on one of your blog post and it did have an email notification for comment moderation in email activities as shown in the screenshot.

Or do you mean that your email didn't receive this email notification for comment moderation?

May I know did you setup a cronjob on your site?

Yes, I mean I didn't get a notification to my own personal email address. It looks in the settings like I should do - to geoff@ashtutors.co.uk.

Currently, I have to log into the back end to see if there have been any comments. I'd rather the notification came to my other email. Is this possible?

Thanks.

Hey there,

It seems that when I run the cron URL manually, it did able to send the notifications to the emails. Also, I even receive it too. Did you receive the emails too?

I suspect your server didn't send the notification to the emails automatically and did not setup a cronjob on your server.

If you didn't setup cronjob on your server, I strongly suggest you to setup a cronjob on your server.

if you need our assistance to help you to setup a cronjob on your server, can you provide us with your cpanel access which can configure the cronjob on your server so we can assist you on this.?

Hi, thanks for your reply.

No, I still haven't received any email notifications - except about the response to this thread!

I don't know what a cronjob is, so please go ahead and set it up - I believe you have my cpanel access details already.

Many thanks.

Hi - a quick update.

I've just discovered that I've received a notification email at about 6pm your time to my other email address: gashton34@gmail.com.

it appears to be coming from geoff@ashtutors.co.uk, which is where I wanted it to go to, not come from.

The email subject was: Your post is being showcased on the site

Does help to solve anything?

Hey there,

I just performed a test comment as a guest on one of your blog post again and run the cron URL already.

Can you check again on your inbox and spam folder again and see whether you receive the notification or not and see whether is it only your email geoff@ashtutors.co.uk faces this issue only?

For your information, I am able to log in to your https://www.ashtutors.co.uk/cpanel but when I clicked the 'Cron Job', it will keep log me out as shown in the screenshot.

Can you try to log in and select 'Cron Job' to see the configuration settings of it as shown in the screenshot too?

If you can, can you make a screenshot for us on the configuration settings of it?

Hi.

No more emails have arrived in either email address - and junk boxes are empty.

I can't log into cronjob either - takes me back to the login screen. I'll check with kualo and get back to you.

Hi.
The cpanel - cronjobs now accessible. I don't know what I'm doing with it so perhaps you'd take another look for me please?
Many thanks.

It seems that I still cannot access your cpanel - cronjob and it will still redirect me back to login screen. If you can, can you make a screenshot for us on the configuration settings of it?

If you cannot access it too, can you consult with your web hosting regarding this issue?

I'm told you can't access it because you need to clear your cache. It worked fine for me after I cleared mine.

I've attached 3 screenshots that cover the whole screen.

Many thanks.

Hey there,

Can you insert the '*/5' into 'Minute' and insert cronjob command into 'Command' by following the instruction as shown in the screenshot?

After that, click 'Add New Cron Job' button and you can start to do the email testing.

You can change the number of '*/5' to the number you like. This '*/5' means the script to send the pending emails will be executed every 5 minutes.

Can you have a try and see how it goes?

For your information, you can set how many emails to be processed everytime the cron is executed which is at Backend > EasyBlog > Settings > Notifications > General > 'Process how many emails at a time'.

Hey there,

Oops, sorry my mistake.

You can copy the following cron command:

[gist type="php"]
/usr/bin/wget -O /dev/null "https://www.ashtutors.co.uk/index.php?option=com_easyblog&task=cron";
[/gist]

Ok thanks - cronjob is now set up and working - I've attached a screen shot.

I'm getting emails but to the wrong address - the notifications are going to gashton34@gmail.com.

I want them to go to geoff@ashtutors.co.uk. How do I change that please?

I've changed some more settings - as it was sending notifications to the author's email address - and I'd set up the authors, I'm guessing that's why it sent them to gashton34@gmail.com.

I just want notifications to me, on geoff@ashtutors.co.uk.

I've entered more test comments, but no further notifications to either email address.

I won't change anything else - I'll await your advice!

Many thanks

Hey there,

Based on what we checked, it does not give any error when the cron URL is executed so the pending emails should have been sent it to the email geoff@ashtutors.co.uk and that is why the state in email activities will mark it as sent with a green tick as shown in the screenshot.

It seems that only this email geoff@ashtutors.co.uk has this kind of issue. We suspect somewhere has blocked something when mail server is trying to send a new email notification to you

Can you provide us with your email, geoff@ashtutors.co.uk login access so that we can have a better check on your current configuration settings of this email?

Also, may I know where to log in to your email geoff@ashtutors.co.uk?

can you consult your web hosting provider to see if we can get access to the logs from the mail server? We would like to check if there are any clues there which might help, and if outgoing email records are stored.

I've logged into my webmail and it seems they're getting stuck there - nothing else is, just these particular ones.

I'm just checking with my server support now - I'll update when I know more.

many thanks.
