When I try to click on the "review stars" or the "reaction emoticons", I expect to get a message asking me to login or register. Instead, nothing happens. This provides a bad user experience. Is there anything I need to change in the configuration?
Hi Bilal,

Unfortunately currently there are no messages that show when guest users try to rate/react and there is no such setting as well.

Let me get this straight...

The user can see items on the screen. However, if he/she clicks on them, nothing happens whatsoever!!!

I think this a major bug. If the user does not have the permission to access something, either: (1) he/she should NOT see that thing at all, or (2) he/she should get a message telling him/her that this action requires login/registration 1st.

Suggested solution:
The relevant layout (Posts (Magazine)) should have the sections (Reviews, Reactions & Comments) as modules, which would only be displayed if the user has access to those modules.

Until this bug is fixed, I would really appreciate it if you can suggest a workaround ASAP (As Soon As Possible).

Hey Bilal,

I have helped you achieve (1) from your suggestion by template overriding this file on your test site so that ratings and reactions only show to logged in users in the post entry view(http://take.ms/zQF06). Currently they no longer show to guest users(http://take.ms/C85ns).

Magazine layout do not show review, reactions or comments by default as the layout is designed to be neat and minimal.

I will also log the issue regarding ratings and reactions in our issue tracker so we can address their behavior for guest users.

1. Thank you very much for the fix. This is great. Can I simply copy the following file from the environment, which you fixed to my environment, or I need to go it through the backend GUI interface?
/templates/protostar/html/com_easyblog/blogs/entry/default.posts.php

2. I am sorry I referred to (Posts (Magazine)). I should have said the layout used for displaying a single post.

Hey Bilal,

1. You can copy the file from the test site. But it would be best to use the backend GUI interface because it will help you automatically create the file in the template when you save, so you do not have to do it manually.

2. Oh so you were referring to the entry layout. No worries.
