I am sure this is an issue on my end, but I have no idea what to do. I had installed Easysocial on a website I am working on at http://www.yamaha-enduros.com and ultimately removed it as it appeared it was making the site slow to a crawl. I am using Joomla 3.2 and the Shape5 Vertex based Design Control template. I also have Easyblog which is working perfectly I believe.

I set up a brand new site using one of the siteshaper deals from Shape5 to rule out a template issue, and was able to get Easysocial working on that site. Unfortunately, I don't want to migrate all of my stuff over to there . . .

I am attaching a couple of screen shots which may help. The first is taken of the front end, and the second of the admin panel. The rest of my administration panel, including that for Easyblog, is fine. The only issues appear to be happening with Easysocial. I had to do a manual install, as the online install would not work. I used Filezilla to upload the component per instructions and the install appeared to go without a hitch and indicated it was successful.

Any help you can render would be most appreciated as there are several of the EasySocial features I bought it for. Thank you in advance.

I set up a temporary super user account for you to use, info below.

Gary Bashor.
I was looking through the admin menus I could see in easysocial, and it appears that when I uninstalled ES the first time, it did NOT do a clean install. There are a number of settings that apparently were written into a configuration file that hung around. I wonder if there is a way to cleanly delete it out and reinstall fresh, without completely starting my site over?

Hello Gary,

I tried to login to your site with the provided login credentials but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work

So one last question, while I have you looking at this - is there a way to uninstall Easysocial completely from my site? I think part of my problem is that it did NOT do that, and when I reinstalled, it is picking up something from the first round.

If you are able to assist, it will be most appreciated.

Thank you!

Hello Gary,

You might want to install EasySocial. To do a clean install, you have to uninstall it in Extension Manager>Manage. To be more confirm, you can rename these folder so Easysocial will recreate the folder.
../administrator/com_easysocial
../components/com_easysocial
../media/com_easysocial

Please give it a try.

Wow - that was grueling

I think I have it installed. I had to manually upload the entire installation directory structure then it appears it is functioning both in the front and back end. I don't know what I was doing wrong, but I did go and delete out all of those directories referencing Easysocial, and even after that, when I logged in, the profile page picture from the earlier install came back! I had deleted out all of the media directories too!

I don't understand how this stuff works in the background, but it may be something to consider in future releases to have the ability to do a clean uninstall.

Thanks for the help, I will contact again if I have any more issues.

Good Afternoon:

I thought I had the problem above resolved, then when working on configuration, ended up losing the gui. That was a week or two ago, and I have not had time to get back to this. I am using Joomla 3.2 and PHP 5.4.25. I am using a 1 and 1 hosting on a Linux server.

I backed up my site (using Akeeba), then set up a site from the backup tonight. It is a mirror of my main site, except I attempted to reinstall EasySocial. I tried to use the API install, which has never worked, and it failed. I then followed the instructions, and FTP uploaded the latest EasySocial component file to the correct directory per the instructions, then walked through the install. The install seemed to go without a hitch, and indicated a successful install.

When I attempt to access the back end, now I don't get the GUI, and the screen is blank. I have all of the choices showing in the component drop down menu under EasySocial but clicking any of those gets me a blank page.

When I did get the front end of the component, I get NO GUI, and I get the debug info in the lower right. When I was able to access the admin screen on the earlier attempt, I could find the debug screen as well as find the place to go from a development to a static setup, but there is no save button in the text version.

I created a super user account as set forth below, and if you could take a look and see what I am doing wrong it would be really appreciated. I know it is my site, and not your software, because I was able to set up a fresh joomla install, using my template (none of my current site data) and the Easysocial seems to be functioning there.

Thank you in advance.

Hello Gary,

Firstly, as posted in the other thread, please do allow sometime for us to get to your issue as it is a weekend for us here (Please see the note at the top). The problem here is actually because you have configured EasySocial to run on development mode and in Development mode, it will actually try to compile ".less" files into ".css" files. If you don't intend to customize anything on the ".less" file, you should leave the settings as "static" and "compressed".

Thanks Mark:

My apologies on the second thread. I was not expecting expedited service, as I know it is the weekend I was not sure that a "reply" in a resolved thread would rise to the top and be noticed on Monday. I did set the matter as unresolved, but again, not knowing how you have your forum set up, I did the second post. That was why I noted to please delete if it was unnecessary.

In any event, I realize I have it somehow set to development mode, but as I indicated farther up this thread, I did an un-install from the Joomla back end, which did not clean out the "media" section, so I followed up as directed by deleting that out. Then I did a fresh install. If I somehow set it to development mode, I don't even know how I did that? I just did a fresh install. Is there something else I need to fix on my end to avoid that?

I realize I have done something on my end to cause the problem, but I don't know what it is, or what I need to do to fix it

Thanks for the assistance! I really do like the products, but am still in the learning curve. It looks like all is good on the testing site now. I will keep my hands away from those particular settings in the future. Thank you again and I trust the rest of your weekend will be great - mine is much improved now!

Hello Gary,

Not a problem at all and I am glad that your issues are resolved now The development mode can actually be configured under Settings > System Preferences and I probably guess that for some reasons, it may have been selected as the default mode of operation.
