One of the users I was "following" posted a new Joomla article and a post in kunena. I did not see either of those posts in my feed or on their profile feed. I can of course manually see the posts if I go into their apps. This leads me to believe that apps display content on the profile, but does not show the post (article, forum, ect) in the news feed? There really needs to be an option on the apps that allow for new posted content to display in the news feed. This way if my friends post a new story (article), I can easily find it via the news feed. Especially with the news feed being the center piece to showing what is going on.
Thanks Josh, found the problem. Can you download the attached file and upload it into /plugins/content/easysocial/

Hello Josh,

If you are following a person, their stream will only be displayed when you filter by "Following".

Thanks for the reply Mark. Yes, I know how to access my followers via the dashboard. The question arises, do new article posts by a member I'm following show up in the news feed? As in is EasySocial supposed to show the new article posted by the member I'm following in the news feed? This is what I'm after.

Yes, it should display that the person created a new article on the site

Good to hear. Unfortunately it doesn't show on my site. I even tested this with a non administrator account. Same problem with forums too. Is there a certain option that must be enabled? I've looked them all over but perhaps there is something I missed?

Did you install the plugins? You need to install the Kunena and article plugins from http://stackideas.com/apps

I know that. I attached a screen shot showing them both published. I suppose I could create a test site and get back with you on this issue.

The ones listed on the apps directory are not apps but plugins that needs to be installed and published on your Joomla site. It is used to register every activity on the site

Oh!!! Thanks for clearing that up. I should have read the fine print there. I'll have to download it asap and test it. I am very pleased to hear that this sort of thing can be controlled in the news feed as well. I'll get back with you on this.

Okay, I tested it which it worked.

A few things I'd like to share:

1. Just like the built in Article app, it would be great to limit the number of characters. No one wants their news feed taken up by a single article.

2. When ever I edit the article, it shows up as a new stream item. In the ES article plugin options I have "Update Stream" set to no which you would think would not display updated articles. I assume this is a bug? I saved the options again just in case and made an extra article edit to confirm this.

3. The reason I got confused between the plugin and app is because in EasySocial it has a section specifically called applications. This led me to believe the section of StackIdeas was for apps rather than plugings/apps. Not a big deal, but I could see how others could get confused by this too because this "mixes" the content and leads people to believe the section is purely for apps.

Hello Josh,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply, down with a bad cold / flu. Hm, do you mean that whenever you update the article, it still get's generated on the stream even if the option has been disabled?

Sorry to hear about your flu Mark. I'll try not too post much for the next 5 or so days so that you can rest up and the Stacked team can have more free time during the Holidays. You guys work hard so I don't want to be apart of burning you out during a enjoyable time of the year.

Regarding the issue, yes. Even with the option set to no it still generates. I attached a screen shot showing my configurations of the plugin (and yes it's enabled too).

Awesome! Thanks for the fix Mark. This fix ought to be placed in the next release of EasySocial.

The EasySocial article app as of right now allows you to limit the number of characters to display. It would be really good if the plugin had this option as well. No one wants their entire news feed taken up by a single article.

I'm facing the same issue but I can't find any download links for ES plugins.
