How does a user start a group chat and invite multiple users to host a group chat?

I created a menu item for the "create an article" link. I deleted it and re-created it serveral times and make sure it is publish and public. Yet when i login as an ordinary user i keep getting an error message when i click on this link.
The error message i keep getting is: 403 You are not authorised to view this resource. Please help me to fix this.

And, is it possible for me to get a login link/tad at the top right hand corner of the home page similar to the facebook home page. Please let me know and how to accomplish this.

Thanks a lot.
Anthony
Hello Anthony,

It's not actually a "chat" system but more of a conversation / pm system. You can add multiple users into a chat when you click on the compose button in the conversations area.

Hello Anthony,

I am sorry for the late reply.
May I know are you using 2.5 Joomla? You should check the ACL for registed user to be able to write article. Screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/fUXbVzqvc3 . Joomla > Content > Article Manager > Options. Please give it a try and see how it goes.

Please be advise.
Thanks.

Thanks,

I got it solved already, i am using Joomla 3x

a problem has occurred. My home page (default page) is set to a single article. this is an article that i have created. i have truied to hide options such as: "Vote, category, display author". When i save the changes it goes to a blank page. I have to select the back button and then hit refresh. when i check the options they are hidden. but when i view the article on the webpage all the hidden options are still showing.

I am wondering if it is because i have install the this article plugin: "http://stackideas.com/apps/item/8-articles" Do you think it is causing a conflict. i want to disable it or uninstall it but i cannot find it.

Do you know what exactly is its name?

Please let me know and let me know how i could solve this issue.

THanks
Anthony

Hello Anthony,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. Sorry but I don't really get your issues here. Can you please provide us with the access to your site to reproduce this issue? Also, please provide us with the back end and FTP access as well

O.K.

I got most of it sorted out. The only thing is that the voting feature cannot be de-activated from a single article.

Once configured in the Global configuration it cannot be de-activated from an individual article. Unless you go to the main menu configuration to de-activate it, and by doing this it affects the rest of the entire articles. and if this is done it cannot be change on individual articles. even if it says it is selected in the back end there is no change in the front end.

Not sure if this is how it is or if not or if it is a joomla or easy social issue.

Configuring the article is directly related to joomla. Is it not?

I would like to remove the option for front end users to be able to add images in article because when that option is selected it goes directly to my back end directory. It doesn't allow the user to upload images from their own devices.

Please let me know if there is a way i can fix this.

Thanks
Anthony

hey anthony,
can you perhaps provide us with some screenshots and the site access mark asked you for. because solely from your description about menu links to an article and vote functions it sounds that this is unrelated to easysocial at all.
but of course we're still here to help you out, so the more detailed informations you can give us to replicate the problem - the better we can assist you solving them

hey anthony,
you can put your site informations into the "site details" tab that you can see below the box when you're writing a post here. http://screencast.com/t/QbXDahJnSlU
informations entered there are only visible for the support team and not for other users.

and please don't forget the screenshots or further informations for your issue so that we can replicate your problem.
thanks and have a nice day

O.K. i sent it.

The thing is. i would like all the articles to have all the features such as the voting feature, etc, except the one article. this article is the article that i have used for my default home page. i don't want this article to have any of those features on it. If there is a way around this let me know.

If you can let me know how to remove the add image button for registered users when creating articles.

Secondly, i see all articles are categorise as "Uncategorised" i am not seeing how to change it. Please let me know how to change it.

hey anthony,
thanks for the details - now I know why my colleagues were confused. all the questions are actually related to the main joomla articles and have nothing to do with our extension at all. so I highly recommend for your further use of joomla that you take a look at some tutorials or documentation.

however I'll try to give you some help on this to get you started:

in joomla you can control the article layout in 3 main levels. the first one is the basic setting that you find when you go to your backend -> content -> article manager and then click on "options" in the top-right. these are the settings you define that would fit most of your articles.

next one is on the article itself. starting from article manager you can click on an article and then above your content box you see tabs with "options" etc. that are only effecting this article.

the third method is on the menu. taking your example with the home page when you click on this menu item ("home") - at menu > main menu then you see again some tabs like "options" etc. where you can overrule previous settings. to demonstrate I just changed "Show Navigation" to NO here and as a result you see now on your home page that the "next" button that you wanted to remove has gone.

for the "uncategorised" issue: you see uncategorized because you haven't added the article into a specific category. if you want to change this you first have to create some categories and then edit the articles and assign a new category.

I'll end this post here - which is already getting very long - and hope this gives you a basic understanding. but still to move forward I recommend digging into joomla as these things will escort you along the way and you should feel comfortable moving around. hope that helps and have a nice day

Hello Anthony,

I am really sorry for the delay of this reply as it is a weekend for us here. You can actually install one of our login module and position them in your Joomla template. This way, you can display a login box at the top. However, it really depends on whether or not your Joomla template supports such module position.

Hello Anthony Sinclair,

Sorry for late reply to this,
I have a little bit lost here, because when i tried to click on the photo from my Easysocial stream, it seems like when you view the photo, it just pop-up the photo at the same page and all the function already there LIKE, COMMENT, TAG, etc, check my screenshot below.
If you're not referring to this, can you elaborate more details regarding with your question? Perhaps you can provide some screenshot to us.

Hi,

When a person followers a person, like or comment on a photo, being sent a message or unlocking a badge, If the person receiving all this is not online they should be sent an e-mail to their e-mail address notifying them of this right?

To get this to work i will have to configure the cronjobs right?

If yes please let me know what is the right was to configure it?

O.K.

I got it resolved, needed to put /users/ before.

Is there a way i can improve the chances of my website notification mails being delivered in a Gmail Inbox and not in the Spam folder.

Each and every mail is frustratingly delivered in the span folder.

Please let me know.

Hello Anthony,

It really depends on how you are setting up your mail settings in Joomla. To get a better score in Gmail's anti spam filter, you should have a valid MX and SPF records.
