New Question notifications after cronjobs implementation

After putting in place the cronjobs for ED, EB, ES and Komento I am finding myself receiving a LOT of emails stating that a new question has been posted on DrCarney.com

All of these questions appear to be spam and fortunately they are not actually posting. But, I am wondering if there is a way to ONLY be notified when a real question has been posted? I would like to have the spam questions not be sent to me since they are not making it onto the web site. :-)

And, I do appreciate that they are not making it to the web site. I am assuming it must be Akismet that is filtering them?

Actually I am not really sure what you mean for those spam post from your site forums, is it you mean you getting a lots of new discussion post notification from your mailbox?

If yes, I already checked in your site, it seems like your existing discussion only 2 posts, but a lots of pending email from your Easydiscuss mail activity, I believe before you have deleted a lots of spam post from backend right?

By the way, you can purge all the pending emails from backend https://www.yourdomainname.com/administrator/index.php?option=com_easydiscuss&view=spools , so you no longer receive those spam email notification.

Hey Sean,

Unfortunately currently that was not possible to achieve this point of time is because system do not know how to determine that is spam post or normal post, as long as the post already completely submitted, the system will notify you.

But you also can use following method to prevent people to submit some spam post in your site.
- Disable guest ask question and reply permission
- Enable Recaptcha on your discussion

I believe you already turned off the Guest ability to post as well as the Guest ability to reply in the following ticket:

I see that Recaptcha is also working. So, it does baffle me how many are still somehow getting through. I also have Akismet set up.

I have not known where the emails were coming from. I get one every five, ten or 15 minutes it seems.

I will go purge them like you suggested. They all must be very new as I only installed the software about a week ago. But, maybe (hopefully) these emails are all from before I got the guest posting off, the akismet on and the recaptcha working (thanks to you).

I will go now and learn how to purge those pending emails.
