You recently made an adjustment I had requested and which is addressed in Ticket ID: 46400
Department: EasyBlog.

I am wondering if a similar adjustment could be made to the notifications when a new comment is added to a blog post? Retain the notification but do not include an excerpt from the comment as that defeats the object of encouraging people to go back to the blog and possibly read other items of interest.
Hello John,

You can change the words by going to this file: ../language/en-GB/en-GB.com_easyblog.ini and change the string for this:

COM_EASYBLOG_NOTIFICATION_NEW_COMMENT_POSTED="A new comment was posted on the post. You can find the excerpt of the comment below."

Hope this helps.

Nick:

Thank you. I took a look at that file but did not make any changes as I was not sure exactly which words to delete or adjust. This is a little beyond my expertise at this time. Can you take care of it for me please?

Also, when changes like this are implemented what can be done to ensure that the next software update does not override them?

Thanks again for all your good help.

John.

Hi John,

I am sorry for the delay of this reply.

To remove the excerpt in the new comment notification email, what you can do is to edit the file 'JOOMLA/components/com_easyblog/themes/wireframe/emails/html/comment.new.php' and remove the code from line 30 ~ 58.

Anyway, I've already did the modification on your EasyBlog and I also did a backup of this file and named the file as comment.new.backup.php

Also, when changes like this are implemented what can be done to ensure that the next software update does not override them?

Since the modification is done on the theme file, you can do the theme overriding method so that your changes to the theme files will remain on your next EasyBlog update. Take a look at this documentation on how you can perform the email theme overriding. http://stackideas.com/docs/easyblog/administrators/customizations/emails

Hope this help and have a nice day!
Sam
