Hi there, when EXporting EB settings from dev site en then IMporting the settings.json file on live site, is it correct that newly created category structure is not carried over?
If so is there a smart way to sync category structure and categorized posts from dev to live?
Hey julius,

Thanks for getting back to us, It seems like that is no quickly way to sync this, because you have move some of the post into new categories, it will actually updated the new record data on your database, mean you have to do the remigrate process again in order to port all the correct data into your dev site.

I am sorry that can't help much you here ;(

2. May i know is it got any new blog post create in these new categories?

Hi Alex,

I have created 2 new categories on the dev site and moved posts to them, instead of ONE general category I now have TWO categories on the dev site.

On the dev site existing posts are categorized

When I want to sync the content on the dev site with the latest from the live site I have to do a new migration, as per our previous discussion.

To preserve the new layout and settings etc from the dev site i export the settings to settings json

then I do a new migration from live site to dev site to make them equal again. When I import settings again, the layout etc will be imported but the newly created categories are not and all posts are back into one general category again.

It's not a super-huge problem but when I do the transition to live I will have to re-create the categories manually again and allocate / move all posts to the new categories again ... extra work

bad luck no problem.
it might be something for you to look at in some new version. As I think I am not the only one that wants to copy blog-posts from one site to another...
