Hi,

I need your support regarding the page speed of ES. I am already using MAXCDN using Client CDN because if I am using the one from ES my page gets disturbed....

Maybe you can give me the right hint.....

The Dashboard and Photo pages are the slowest...

Thanks for your support!
Horst,

We're optimizing lots of stuff in 1.2.15

Hi Mark,

it seems that I have done a mistake using MAXCDN. Please try the http://www.rhein-neckar-aktiv.de

Sorry for any inconvenience...!

Hello Horst,

I think the server that you are on is pretty overloaded. Loading on a normal Joomla page itself without any extensions is around 1s . For instance, the page at http://www.rhein-neckar-aktiv.de/impressum.html itself takes about 1.4s to load for me and looking at that page, it's just a simple article page.

Also, I noticed that you have enabled the send email on page load option. This would actually cause delays to your page load because Joomla will try to process emails by connecting to the mail server. Disabling this should increase the speed too.

Hi Mark,

thanks for your feedback - the Email send option is now switched off....nevertheless the page is not "fast enough". Maybe I should try another hosting provider because my hosting package is already my provider's business package - or do i have to use my own server? What's your professional advice?

Are there any providers that can be tested?

Thanks

Horst

Hello Horst,

I have made some changes on the site, can you try the speed? No, don't switch your hosting provider first Let me try to find the bottleneck first. This is also something that I noticed in your Gantry template, it actually checks for the cache file each time the page loads.

For example, if I try to access http://www.rhein-neckar-aktiv.de/nutzungsbedingungen.html , the initial page load take about 10 seconds. Then, after refresh about 1.5s. This doesn't make sense because it's just a simple article.

Also, you want to ensure that your assets on the site to be cached. Perhaps you should do this on images. See this, http://screencast.com/t/pHPmuQhMR7

Hi Mark,

Thanks for your feedback and support! It seems that the page is loading as fast as never before - but it's still not enough

I also read this link for the Gantry template and tried to manage the hints and tipps....

http://www.rockettheme.com/forum/gantry-for-joomla/138791-caching-and-compression-guide-by-andy-miller

Still have to work on the performance ! What did you mean with your last sentence and screenshot? I didn't get that...

One further question - I have nearly ten photo albums stored with my account and I am using also Amazon S3 Remote Storage for the photos but this page is still the slowest..... I thought that using S3 would increase the speed loading all the photos directly from there...?

Hi,

maybe my question above wasn't seen by you, but nevertheless I tried a lot to improve the speed of my page. This is my current result of http://gtmetrix.com Nevertheless the component ES is extremely slow - the page is already there and it takes then a few seconds until the main component is visible....

Any ideas how to improve this....? I am now already using CDN via MAXCDN, Remote Storage via Amazon S3.....and last but not least migrated my page to another hoster......

Thanks for your feedback and support!

Hi Mark,

When will it be released? At the moment it's really not a pleasure to work with....

We're taking a little longer on this one because optimizing the codes is not something can be done easily and it takes a lot of patience. Also, we do not want to release the package without proper testing to avoid any bugs being introduced.

Good strategy Mark. While ES 1.3. sounds very exciting, better practices/standards are more important.
