Hello,

I'd already reported this some months ago, seems thats always the case.
Some members disabled all of their email notifications on their dashboard and still receive emails for discussions,
There is no unsubscription url in the emails footer, seems to be random, some time there is, some time not.
i am receiving lot of complaints from users and i am getting troubles.

can you include a link that realy unsubscribre people from discussions ? current or all.
After discussing with the team regarding this, I've explained this wrongly from my previous reply https://monosnap.com/file/KLrI42jmTO2nLpe7IkHI5H4hSW6oPA .

Basically, as long as the site enabled the "Notify Thread Participants When Replied" setting, the new reply email notification will not show an unsubscribe link, because it will forces the system to notify the thread participants when someone adds a new reply to the thread.

If you would like to show an unsubscribe link in the new reply email notification, you need to configure the following notification setting from the backend:

1. Turn off "Notify Thread Participants When Replied" this setting from the backend > Easydiscuss > setting > notifications > general (screenshot: https://monosnap.com/file/74e2qbwHpbPXnZ8iQj40qRg1RgN2hV )

2. Remain in this setting to enable "Notify Post Subscribers When Replied" from the backend > Easydiscuss > setting > notifications > general (screenshot: https://monosnap.com/file/ZdpqQ52NTAkqxWfNfKALcKR8eccZDQ )

3. Remain in this setting to enable "Auto Subscribe When Replying To Topic" from the backend > Easydiscuss > setting > notifications > subscriptions (screenshot: https://monosnap.com/file/Msuek86Aqv9V6lszkozWvMj6K7H4ks )

Output:
When the subscriber receives a new reply email notification, the email content will contain an unsubscribe link. (screenshot: https://monosnap.com/file/8A5edfiWjC6hM6ZkvTKpj2ZL9pZKqk )

1. From what I checked your current Easydiscuss notification setting, it seems like you have enabled the "Notify Thread Participants When Replied" notification setting, meaning if the user replied to one of the discussions posts, whoever replies to this discussion post, the system will notify the participants even the user never subscribe to the discussion post.

In this case, the email notification shouldn't have generated an unsubscribe link for this.

2. I also noticed that you have enabled this "Auto Subscribe When Replying To Topic" setting as well, meaning when the user replies to one of the discussion posts, the user will automatically subscribe to the discussion post, so the system will notify them when the discussion has a new reply.

In this case, currently it doesn't show an unsubscribe link in the email notification now, I will log into the issue tracker and see if we can include an unsubscribe link for this.

For now, you can point the user to unsubscribe from the frontend under my subscription page.

If the second point is not your current case, perhaps you can share with me which user account is unable to unsubscribe through the email notification so that we can investigate this issue?

We probably will add a check whether the site has enabled this setting "Notify Thread Participants When Replied" or not e.g.

If enabled this setting, then we do not show the unsubscribe link in the email content (new reply email notification) because even users unsubscribe for this specific discussion post, the system will notify them when a new reply is added in the discussion post because you have enabled this setting "Notify Thread Participants When Replied".

If disabled this setting, then we show the unsubscribe link in the email content so the user can able to unsubscribe this discussion post subscription.

hello, thank you

the problem is that legally the unsubscribe link must be in every email sent.
i think even if this option is enabled the member need the unsubs link to unfollow the thread, if he reply again he will be subscribed again.
On the other side, when he manually subs a thread he also need the unsubs link that achieve the same action as "unflowing" the thread on the website.

I would suggest to add two links : first "unuibs from current topic" and the second "unsub from all discussions notifications". This way members will have the choice. And this avoid that they report emails as spaml and this waht we get all time because they are not aware that they are autimatically following discussion where they participate.

Another usefull way to manage this which i discovered on some boards, a checkbox just under the replay form "follow this discussion", if the admin set up true the feature "Notify Thread Participants When Replied" the check beox will be shown true and user can change it. If its disabled then it will be shown unchecked and people can check it if they prefer following.

hope its clear ?

the problem is that legally the unsubscribe link must be in every email sent.

Basically this setting "Notify Thread Participants When Replied" forces the system to notify the thread participants when someone adds a new reply to the thread. The system will notify them even if participants don't subscribe to the thread.

Since you have enabled this setting "Auto Subscribe When Replying To Topic" and "Notify Post Subscribers When Replied", I would like to recommend you turn off this setting "Notify Thread Participants When Replied".

And the behavior will be the same, so the system can be able to accurately determine to show the unsubscribe link in the email, if not even the user clicks the unsubscribe link from the email also no use since they have never subscribed to this discussion post before.

By the way, thanks for your suggestion, we will see what we can do about this.
