I would like to report that ongoing events are still excluded from "EasySocial Events" module. (using module v1.3.13).
Are you planning to fix this issue.?

Try download my attachment file and replace in JoomlaFolder\modules\mod_easysocial_events\helper.php
It should show ongoing event in that event module.

By default, If you are select "No filtering" option, then it will only show "upcoming event" in your event listing page.
By the way, I will consult with our developer regarding and see how it goes.
It is possible to select only 1 category when filtering which is not helping. When you have most ongoing events and only few upcoming across more than 1 category there is no way to show them in module.
* "No Filtering" should logically include all events
* you should add new filter to this module "upcoming events only"
* it should be possible to select more than 1 category for filtering
