Hi,

1. Is moderating only possible from the admin side? "Pending posts" seem to only be visible in the backend, which does not work for us, as our moderators use the front end of the site only. Is there a setting for pending posts to be visible to moderators on the front end, and with a strong visual cue to let moderators know that posts are not yet approved?

2. Is there an automated way (emails, notifications) to alert moderators that there are posts awaiting their attention? We see how to assign user groups as moderators, but not how to alert them to new content.

Thanks!
Hey Matt,

Please find our response to your inquiries below:

Yes, this is correct as the only way to moderate pending posts is from the back end currently.

If you are a moderator / super admin, you will receive an e-mail when a new post is posted on the site that requires moderation.

A moderator is defined as moderator when their user group is defined in the category permissions as moderator.

Hi,

The way moderation works right now is not easy for moderators.

Firstly, if they get an email about a new post, the emailed link takes them to the front of the website, which — if they are not logged in — results in a 404 error (which is always, since we do not allow people to remain logged in for long).

Then, when they do log in, if it is a new post, there is no visual cue as to whether the post is published or pending.

If it is a reply that is new, that reply is not visible at all, and there is no visual cue that there are pending posts. So, then to find out if there are replies the moderator would have to log in to the admin side. There, they will find a note about pending posts, but they cannot read the Q&A in order or as presented on the front side of the site.

On our site, moderators do not have admin access. Our moderators are volunteers, so we try to keep things as easy and simple as possible (i.e one login, one place to work).

I hope you guys will consider making moderation easier, faster, and more intuitive.

It seems to me it would work better to have the pending posts and replies visible to moderators in the front end, with a visual marker like the "Resolved" marker.

Thanks!

Hi Mark,

Let me add to this that currently only Superadmins can see pending posts, and only in the backend. Obviously, we are not going to give Superadmin access to moderators, so we hope that this moderation workflow can be improved soon.

Thank you!

You'er welcome, I will add this into our tracker and we will see if we can implement this in the future version.
