The online indicator is not displayed on the avatar at PC as well(https://take.ms/GJ4rv), unless you are referring to the profile popbox.

At the moment it’s difficult to view online users on mobile. Because there is no sidebar with “online users module”.

You can create an online users module and place it on a position in your mobile: https://take.ms/PUxMl

For the module position, different templates will have different available positions. You can use ?tp=1 to view the available positions(https://take.ms/5xOGw), or consult your template provider on where is best to place a module on mobile. They may have an off canvas position.
