Mixed content

Is there an easy way to fix the problem with mixed content?

I know there are plugins for it, you can also add something to the .htaccess or change it in CDN.

But that doesn't always work.

If you change your page to https (ssl), the photos from links with http: are no longer displayed.
Basically this is okay. Only it would be good if an info appears that this link you want to share comes from an insecure page.

Would it be possible that when sharing links, ES automatically changes http: to https:?
Hi there,

Do you mean for the following:

1. When you insert a http: link into the story panel and you want it to change it to https: automatically after you post it?

OR

2. You want to change the http image link to https automatically after you post it?

If I understand your question wrongly, can you explain more about it so that we can have a better understanding of it?

Hi Irwin,

The problem is, if you share an http link in the Story-panel, the photo will not be displayed.

This problem needs to be changed.

And you understood it right. It's about the photo.

I have here a link from a German site:

http://www.spiegel.de/wissenschaft/natur/geruechte-um-naturgewalt-der-geister-tornado-von-hamburg-a-1153701.html

And the photo has this link:

http://cdn4.spiegel.de/images/image-1157877-860_poster_16x9-lpvf-1157877.jpg

When I change the link of the photo to https, the photo is displayed:

https://cdn4.spiegel.de/images/image-1157877-860_poster_16x9-lpvf-1157877.jpg

Another possibility, instead of an empty field, would be to show information that this link comes from an insecure page.

Summarized: Either changing the photo link from http to https. Or an info that it is an insecure page.

Or you can always block http pages. This also has a lot to do with the Google ranking...

Hi there,

If that's the case, you can enable 'Cache Images' from the General settings. http://take.ms/sX9ks

So once I post one of the links, the image of the link will be cached which means that the image will be stored into your server and the image will be retrieved from your server as shown in the screenshot. https://monosnap.com/file/aX3WC1avqL5524YEySyfT8CIqKrRYd

Thank you Irwin. I'll take care of it. I know this function.

It also works wonderfully. But I have a problem with it:

This increases the file size on the server enormously.

Will the photos also be deleted after the cleanup interval? Or are only the cached links deleted? If after 3 months or 1 month also the photos are deleted, then it is perfect.

But that's not so important right now.

I thank you for your help.

Hi there,

Currently, we do not have the functionality of purging the cached image in EasySocial.

We will see if we can do something about it in EasySocial 3.1.
