Note that toolbar settings are still available in the backend for me in:
Easy Discuss > Settings > Layout > Toolbar

And it shows 'COM_EASYDISCUSS_ENABLE_TOOLBAR' variable names instead of text for all the labels except 'Display RSS Link'

Yes, the default toolbar no longer exists after we standardized to render the toolbar as a module now.

Can you check your backend module section and see whether you can find out this "Stackideas toolbar" module?

If yes, you can display to show this module into this module position "stackideas-toolbar".

If the toolbar module still doesn't show on your webpage, can you update your site backend and FTP access at your first post by clicking the 3 dots > edit option > Provide Site & FTP Access (Optional) so we can investigate this on your site.

There is no module 'Stackideas' in our system.
And unfortunately I'm not allowed to give out our ftp info.

I downloaded the toolbar.
Installed in a local copy of my site first to check. Which worked, but easydiscuss wasn't updated in that backup copy.
Installing it on live site, where easydiscuss is up to date, didn't work.
It broke the forum pages where it was active. When loading a forum page where it was active, It showed the first few links of the toolbar in raw html with no style. and then a blank white page.
