Hi Jason,
The reason your mini registration does not appear is because you did not set any custom fields to appear there.
You would have to head into your user Profile Type custom field section and configure certain important fields to be visible in the mini registration(http://take.ms/DcVZm). Once you have done that, those fields will show in the mini registration.
